Escape from Tarkov

Patch out today

Not sure what’s going on with the anti aliasing though. Was meant to be included in this patch but doesn’t seem to be any applied in the trailer...

Patch is out. Only AA they added was super sampling which rapes performance and doesn't even work on half of the objects in the environment... the game looks better and performs better using Nvidia's DSR to upscale to 4k than using the 2x,4x SSAA options.

Disappointing, seems this game will always be plagued by eye bleed jaggies and shimmering.

Walked around new map, its ok... boggles the mind how it takes them well over 6 months to make a map though given they aren't exactly amazing on the eyes or full of detail.

There’s no AI on the new map either although they say they will change that in the coming weeks.

I would buy into this, but I just can't shake the feeling that it's going to get released and then just left to stagnate by the developers.

It won't get fully released for well over a year, probably more like 2. Their rate of development is ridiculously slow. Takes them forever to pump out maps and they still have 5 or so to go... then they have to paste them altogether into one big world and add all the other features they talk about such as a proper class system etc. The game will be getting updated for at least the next 2 years im sure of it... not because they are super dedicated to it but because they are sloooooooooooow.

They were slow to begin with because they had a relatively small development team. In the recent months they've expanded quite a bit and are starting to pump a lot more development into it - the large number of new gun assets is a bit of a testament to that.

Didn't manage to get on last night, but will undoubtedly be sampling the new map tonight!

The development may be slow but what they are trying to achieve is immense and you have to remember the current game is nothing like what they will eventually release. At the moment you're playing just parts of the game. I purchased the EOD edition a few weeks but have had the basic edition since December, and I have never played a game the raises your pulse and makes you sweat like this one - it is brutal and its only going to get more realistic as development continues.

What they are trying to achieve will never become a reality imo, they aren’t competent enough at their jobs to reach the level they want their game to be at. I’ve been signed up since the beginning and nothing they do inspires much faith in their abilities.

It took them an entire year to release 1 map and then optimise it, and it still doesn’t run very well.

So i can't really be arsed with this game anymore, if anyone is interested in buying my account from me (you can change username easily) then let me know. I have the top tier EOD package and would sell for half of what it retails for. You can easily reset the account as well so its back to default.

Backed EOD 2 years ago and didnt play it for over a year. Quite pleased with how it plays now having come back to it. Netcode still needs work but it is fun and tense. Me and one of the other guys here play it most evening so if you want to join us give me a shout and ill flick on our discord channel (we have a wider gaming discord related to star citizen but a lot of other games played).

Finally started to enjoy this after quite a long time of ownership. I now can get through the trading side of things pretty quickly and get into a game. Also realised that the game needs to have "object LOD" set to 2 to actually run smooth. Had some real intense moments on there over the past week, its unlike anything else I have ever played tbh.

BTW there is a 25% sale on at the moment if anyone is one the fence.

Anyone still playing? It's taken a bit of a dive for me with the last few patches, the constant resets of progress are wearing me thin and the damn scav on scav killing is severely frustrating.

The devs are pretty hopeless tbh, pretty much all the major glaring issues that existed when it was first released still exist today with little to no improvement whatsoever. They keep adding pointless features like the scav boss but don't seem to care about fixing the core base of the game... or are simply unable to due to lack of talent/time/money and the fact they chose a really bad engine to work with (just so they could port over assets from older projects easier).
