European Grand Prix 2011, Valencia Street Circuit - Race 8/19

Just heard that Vettels car has been running Silverstone Spec engine map for the first 75 minutes or so. Now switching to the Valencia one.

There is no way that is the only difference between him and Webber though as the lap times were 3 secs apart.

Why don't they show this on bbc3 as it's just showing a holding screen. That way could watch it On catchup tv.

I believe it's a technical issue. Obviously on freeview BBC3 and CBBC share the same frequency. It's simply software that 'hides' the channel behind a holding screen.

Naturally, on SKY/Virgin it's not so much of an issue.

That makes sense I've always wondered why as it wouldn't cost anything. Now I can stop wondering.

watching the south african 1985 gp on rd button, they just did a pit stop and the pit crew had shorts on that didnt even reach the thighs.

It's called luring them into a false sense of security before continuing to dominate them at silverstone ;)

Lewis clearly doesn't have an idea what goes on with the car. Not that he should have to, but he's spouting on about Mclaren running the same map for qually as the race while many experts are telling us Mclaren and Mercedes are one of the teams expected to lose because of how agressively they have been doing the same thing.

From the Scarbs link Shimmy kindly linked...

"McLaren are also a team with a well developed Q-map, where as Ferrari are still believed to be immature in this area of development. Further down the field the other Renault engined teams and the Cosworth teams are likely to suffer less. Which should bring the tailenders a few tenths closer to the P1 time in Q1 reducing the fear exclusion on the 107% rule."

Perfect scenario for me is Red Bull keep winning and people whinge about something else on the car or it allows Alonso to start winning every thing and people start whinging that Todt did it for his Ferrari chums.

People seem so desperate for Red Bull to start losing they don't care how the advantage is taken away. So I'm hoping for a Red Bull 1-2 at valencia with both Mclarens DNF, with a repeat at Silverstone.

While i'm also sure that there was a bit of sandbagging from Vettel in FP1 I don't want to see RB lose because of this. I want Mclaren to beat them because they got it right and for no other reason. Saying that, i'm not going to be upset if Mclaren get a 1-2 here and at Silverstone lol.

People have been saying that the Mclaren is faster in the race but not as fast in Quali for a few weeks now. If both RB and Mclaren have to run their Race map then we will see just how much difference the RB DRS is making in Quali with unlimited use.

Yep, that will make for a very exciting 2nd half of the season :(

I'd honestly rather that than winning by banning stuff like this is a WWE circus.

Besides even if the title is wrapped by hungary the races wil still be interesting judging by the races so far :)

Come on Vettel, give them the finger!

You should know by now that what the drivers tell the media and what is fact are two different things.
Lewis clearly knows what modes he is running. It's about managing the messages ;)

I can't see why people are moaning so much about the new FIA mapping rules.
The FIA has turned a blind eye to the engine mapping untill teams took the pee also they are changing the car mapping after Parc Ferme.. NOT ALLOWED

The FIA has warned teams enough times now it's done it people are crying.

Working fine on sky :D hurrah!
