*** FACTORIO: Space Age **** DLC pack announced!

For some reason, I'm less excited about this than I thought I'd be. Maybe because I played the Space Exploration mod. I'll probably pick it up at some point, though I wanted to go through Satisfactory since V1.0 and I haven't even done that yet!

how does getting into the DLC work - do you go straight to space or do you still go through the base game and build a rocket??? Playing through satisfactory atm and then will jump on this once I'm finished the space elevator

You still go through the base game and building a roacket gets you to space. There are other changes to reflect that launching a rocket isn't the final achievement anymore

The quick finish achievement is now 40hrs and I think it was 8 for the original game, so completing Sapce Age may take q bit longer..

I started a brand new vanilla game as I didn’t want any mods to interfere with the DLC. Definitely a few mods I miss already such as being able to walk through pipes instead of round them! I don’t have much play time but seeing as I know what I’m doing I reckon it’ll be a week before I’m launching rockets

The revised map generation is honestly brilliant. The world feels much more natural now and you no longer have random blocks of water, cliffs, rocks just getting in the way.
Just hit blue science, so still a bit to go before rocket launch but so far so good.

I was like, oh, I'll just wait a little bit for a steam sale, like I do with absolutely every game I buy. But then I remembered, oh yeah, Factorio famously never goes on sale. So the above option does sound quite handy.

Yea I was thinking the same. Forgot about no sales. :(

Yeah I know what you mean. Im playing vanilla and default map but there are quite a few QOL mods like Rate Calculator that I (over)rely on

One thing to watch out for is if you download the DLC and then disable all mods which is what I did. It wasn’t until about three hours into the new game that just by pure chance I noticed that the DLC is picked up as three mods and I’d disabled them… Enabling them worked fine though the game complained it was having to “fix” the save state but I was still early at the game at that point.

Good point. Think they have done it that way so you can choose which of the new content to play with.
