Faulty Palit GTX 1070?

Imo, it's daft for a business the magnitude of OcUK if they aren't going to accommodate him with paying the difference, as he might go elsewhere/change his mind and not buy anything=lost sale/customer, plus he's now getting a negative vibe instead of a positive one.

Paid on credit though. Different set of rules. I am sure it would have been no problem if he paid normally.

Is it unreasonable to expect a quick turnaround, seeing as the card was faulty from day one?
I could understand if I had used the card over the course of a couple of weeks, but this is a near £400 card that was faulty from the offset.
Other vendors have previously arranged a direct exchange. They have my credentials, it's not like I'm trying to pull a fast one!

If you ever have something faulty. Get a refund. Then your options are always open. If its an expensive item pay with Visa Credit or something similar. Obviously depends on your ability to have said cards but this stops issues with dissatisfied and dissapointing service. Get a refund going and purchase a different item. Often I've found places are unable to exchange a product and it seems more hassle then it's worth. Refund. Buy another. Simple. If you have to wait then so be it.

My advice at this time would be to drop CS a line, ask to speak to Bailey, tell him the story and point him to this thread.:)

I know what your saying, credit or not, it's frustrating enough to get doa hardware, the delay adds to it, the aim of the game is to create positive customer satisfaction which encourages recommendation to shop here, not add to his misery which creates negativity which he's already feeling.:)

Quoted for truth.

It's all very well being objective about everything, until it happens to you. I'm basically left with an underperforming PC for a week or more depending on the outcome. It's hard to be enthusiastic about that!

Edit: The person I spoke to got back to me, but offered no real solution, just an explanation. Fair enough, he is only authorised to do so much.
With that said, I've asked if there is any assurance that this was an isolated problem and not the consequence of a bad batch, or known manufacturing defect?

I've yet to receive a reply. I'll keep you informed.

I've reached out to Bailey based on your recommendation. Thanks for that.

But they aren't doing wrong, if the card is faulty they are offering a refund or a replacement card. How much better can you ask for??

When you buy on credit, you don't own the product until you make the final payment. They can't offer a different card because they would have to make a new agreement with the finance company. That's just the way credit works.

If you don't want hassle, don't buy on credit.

I've paid on credit, which I've partially paid off already. If they agree to a refund after the supposed turnaround of a week, I'd then be looking at up another week before receiving said refund because of my chosen payment method.

OcUK are renowned for going above and beyond, but it seems I'm the exception.

Either way, I plan to leave a review which reflects my experience. It's not been positive thus far, you've got to admit?

I don't think it's been too bad to be honest. OK, you received a faulty item, but it seems you have been offered a replacement or a refund. I don't really know what else Overclockers could have done for you, apart from perhaps immediately sending out an advanced replacement. I can't say I blame them for not doing that though, as they would be creating potential problems for themselves if they didn't receive faulty items, or those items were proven not to be faulty.

If I were in your situation, I'd have opted for a replacement. OK, your experience hasn't been good with this card, but given that there are no widespread reports of issues with these cards (not on these forums anyway), you would be very unlucky indeed if you had any problems with the replacement card. It seems this would also be the fastest way of getting a working card in your PC.

I didn't get it on finance through OcUK. I use Paypal, but I've already started paying off the majority of the balance.

Not said they are doing wrong, if you look back on what I originally said and take it from there.

If he takes a replacement, by the time it arrives and checked, they might not even have any in stock if he went for a direct replacement and have to wait for more to arrive=even more downtime.

Perhaps they could do what one of their competitors(that gets stick in here for having crap cs:p) done for me in the past, had a faulty cpu, returned it about 8 months in-not within 14 days, and they let me upgrade it to a newer cpu and I'd pay the difference when I asked if they could?

It's relatively simple to make an extra charge(someone must have authorisation to do it), wait for the return-check he hasn't broke it himself:eek:, post out a different one and considering Gibbo said the deal was a loss leader, make some profit=OcUK make profit, he's delighted with a great outcome, highly recommends OcUK because they went above and beyond, it's a win win for both parties, no?

Does that competitor rhyme with pan?

In summary. A customer of Overclockers has received a faulty graphics card, and has been offered a refund or replacement (within 24 hours of discovering the fault).

Why am I posting this ? :D

Sadly, no word from Bailey. I'll just have to hang fire until they've received the faulty card. Hopefully they'll sort something out.

Think it's a bit of a shame what a bashing Palit is getting in this thread. My Gamerock 1070 Premium has been absolutely faultless and I've seen many other posts by people delighted with their purchase, I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend their cards.

Technical issues can unfortunately happen with any manufacturer, it's just bad luck.

I mentioned before that some people receive a faulty product, then to jump to the conclusion that all of those products, or even products from the same manufacturer are faulty or poor quality. My Gamerock Premium is also working fine, so at least Palit made two decent cards. ;)

Having said that, it is possible that my card could fail at any time. Hopefully that won't happen, but if it does I shall contact Overclockers and send it back for testing and repair.
