Feel like I'm missing out on some low end *Solved with XXLS400*

What you could do is buy three more stack them ontop the one on lfe channel, then buy four more stack ontop on other side for the left channel then four more stack for right channel.

Or if you only spent another £4000 you could have bought the 4 X 18" powersound
 
I'll just check my bag pickers I had a bit of change in there I forgot, might only stretch to 2x18" powersound though.

@willhub, glad you got sorted. You won't go wrong with a BK sub. To be honest, an XXLS400 would probably have been more suited to my system but I'm a bit of a bass head and love my movies so would have found any excuse to buy a Monolith! I've found I'm watching more movies since adding the subwoofer. It's interesting to see just how the Monolith deals with music being a big ported sub. I've mentioned how certain bass notes around the port frequency can be a bit exaggerated, but it is so impressive, unreal for movies too. I'm sure the 400 will be no slouch!

That is probably frequieces around port tune, I had that when I set it to 11hz port tune you can feel and hear increased audible distortion and port chuffing, having it that showed it up higher up need to have either much louder and less noticeable but it's still there.

If you have access to a antimode try using the built in sub sonic filter

oh it certainly does. well not punch but will make the room shake. the monolith is better for being punched in the face. the xxls400 is extremely capable. i personally now won't buy another sub until it dies. it's very very good for the money. if i was going to spend more money i would need to upgrade the whole system. i would need a spare £10K tbh to do everything to a worthwhile upgrade. which isn't something i'd be willing to do.
 
Wouldn't mind going dual svs SB ultra 13 but prices have gone up I'd want to pick one up cheaper, one SB ultra 13 seems plenty for the room but having two will smoothen out response and have more impact in movies. Two sealed boxes will certainly take up less space than two monolith pluses, or indeed the pb ultra 13 (or 16) can get away with another sbu13 but not the pb especially two..start to dwarf the room..

Having bigger driver and more power is a upgrade but depends on far want to go..

Dunno when I sold the pcu13 I had a 12" sealed box could have bought same one to go duals but the single pcu13 easily outclassed the single and don't think duals would outlcass the single pcu13.

I think one higher end sub is better than two midrange subs.
 
As far as I know, setting the XXLS400 is pretty simple, I'm guessing crossover will have to be set around 80Hz?

leave it on max and let the avr set the crossover to whatever you want but the higher the better usually. i think thx recommends 80Hz but I have mine at 120Hz iirc maybe 110 or 100.
 
Too high and sub is locatable. However other side is if not set at 120hz then life content is discarded. Not redirected.

Not sure if my lexicon does that or redirected but I do not like it at 120hz
 
The sub out may not be ideal setting or could be 120hz.

So you have two options use sub out set max on sub itself, or use left and right stereo outputs and adjust sub knob itself.

Depends what speakers you have what xoveron the Denon, whether the left and right outputs are bass management, and whether the finer controls on sub is better

I've got an XXLS400 sub, and to be honest I doubt you could turn it up much in a semi detached house, nevermind a flat if you have people below.

Luckily Im detached, but I doubt you'll be craving more bass. Enjoy!
