Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

I'm not on i'm afraid! probs won't be all weekend, have a Wedding on Saturday and i'm playing American Football Sunday! no doubt one of the other guys will be around then. just shout in the capital cities for people in WIND

I think an upto date list would be useful, but probs need to get hold of the OP to sort it out!..

I started updating my thread for the console version, but it didn't look like anyone was using it and it was getting kinda hard to sift through posts for people's names so I kinda gave up :p might just knuckle down and update my OP (or rather my 2nd post) with everyone's names I can find at some point this weekend.

Ohh yeah I forgot about the console one... I always forget that they can play too :p

Well, you know me! Everybody should list their most recent names if you plan on updating it :)

Mine is pretty obvious: Jasseh Ocuk (on Odin).

Still not sure if I'll be paying once my 30 days are over though.

Thanks for helping me do Tam-Tara over the weekend. It was easy apart from my schoolboy error of not stepping far enough into the room on the final boss!

Like you I'm also not sure if I'll play past my free 30 days (got 14 left). Got my archer to lvl 21 and got carpenter and botanist both to lvl 12 so far. I find it a bit annoying to have to switch to use them though. I think I'll just concentrate on levelling my archer now before my time runs out.

pretty decent run down, sounds quite good actually. Still enjoying it or is it tedious?
There is a very tedious darkside that people don't like talking about which is AK farming. AK is an instance which gives 40 great tokens, 100 good tokens. You need 900 good tokens for the standard relic, 900 great tokens for your relic + 1 . Each week there is a cap of 300 great tokens, no cap for the good tokens. You need 1350 good tokens for helm/chest combined piece of darklight, other items are less. As you can now see, you need a lot of tokens.

Now it's possible to farm good tokens in a different instance quicker than AK (CM) but you need to cap out on the 300 great tokens per week ideally which means a LOT of AK runs as CM doesn't drop great tokens at all.

AK runs are moderately tough although after a week we worked out how to speedrun (30 mins) with aoe farming as a 4 pack, you'll be in there for an hour plus if it's a PUG and you better pray you got the DPS for demonwall (and the others understand it) or the fight is going to be a blocker, it's very easy to die at demonwall or not have the DPS to do it sadly, it's a decent gear check.

That just sounds like any sort of farming for epics in WoW really. Only, this actually makes you work for your items rather than giving it too you on a plate!

Dunno, I kinda like that it takes a while to get the better items in the game. I'd hate to have them just given too me after a week or something. Every man and his dog would just be a clone of each character ^^

Admittedly, I've not personally experienced end game content yet so... I could just be talking BS! :)

I'm at the the lvl 44 story quest where you have to kill Garuda and the fight is so hard, it kinda feels like an end game hm raid boss from WoW.

Why would you make story quests so hard, isn't it what end game is for?

Reminds me of VP Keys & Primal Farming in EQ

One of these days I'll level my Archer instead of my crafters :p

I stopped on the Archer + Primary Quest to level up my Puglist for Bard (would be a bit quicker if I could finish off the Hunting Log by first hitting and having someone finish off the mob for me). Levequests give absolutely sod all exp.

My crafters are mostly in the region of 25-30 now though. Leveling them is so hit n miss. The Blacksmith for example seems to take forever because a lot of his materials come from other crafting classes and he generally doesn't need to craft much himself. Weaver on the other hand needs to craft so many threads/cloths that the exp steadily rolls in. And some classes get to just spam out certain recipe's. I took my Alchemist from level 24 to 26 by spamming out 30 crafts of Hi-Potions (~10-15 of which came out HQ). Turned out then that my level 25 Tradeleve was Hi-Potions. 10 triple Tradeleves later I'd gone up to almost level 31 at the cost of lots Hi-Potions that I could easily remake.

Which stage you at with Garuda? The difficulty I had was being a summoner as you just don't do the burst dps to get the feathers down to a reasonable amount in lower levels.

It is like farming for gear yes (pretty much valor(sic) token farming), but my only real complaint about it is being locked to a single instance - you practically have to do AK runs until token capped at the start of the week and instances are currently taking upto 20 minutes to reserve even with a full party ready to go. It just makes it feel a little stale but it is quick once you have it down.

I probably should have said that darklight gear looks the same for your armour class type so you will all look the same sorry :)

No problem, let me know if you need a tank for any others :).

I don't mind the switching to use other classes really, separate hotkey bars for each class saves having too much on one.

I now actually need a party to do Copperbell Mines. I thought the dungeons might be stretched out a bit more so you could crack on with the story but I seem to be stuck again until I do this and it's hard to get a party when you're dps.

IIRC there are three dungeons in a row for the storyline! then it goes back to some normal storyline stuff :) and as a side quest there is another dungeon you can do :)

More than happy to lend a hand whenever needed :D
