Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

Which stage you at with Garuda? The difficulty I had was being a summoner as you just don't do the burst dps to get the feathers down to a reasonable amount in lower levels.

It is like farming for gear yes (pretty much valor(sic) token farming), but my only real complaint about it is being locked to a single instance - you practically have to do AK runs until token capped at the start of the week and instances are currently taking upto 20 minutes to reserve even with a full party ready to go. It just makes it feel a little stale but it is quick once you have it down.

I probably should have said that darklight gear looks the same for your armour class type so you will all look the same sorry :)

I have finally managed to do complete this quest, tank was from Free Company and he already did it so was much easier, still a very difficult fight if not executed correctly.

I now actually need a party to do Copperbell Mines. I thought the dungeons might be stretched out a bit more so you could crack on with the story but I seem to be stuck again until I do this and it's hard to get a party when you're dps.

Ive just done Copperbell Mines and would do it again tonight if youd like? Ill be on about 7:30 game name 'Dan Gell' lvl 19 Healer

The dungeons do lose a lot of there enjoyment when you do them first time with people who have already done it and basically explain whats going to happen in every single encounter.

Did the Manor with a couple of friends who'd already done it and it really spoilt the whole thing being told what to do at each stage.

Am enjoying the game casually so am a bit clueless... Please help!

I got to L17 by just following the quest progression... However I then just followed the main story to unlock the first 2 dungeons (which i did and very much enjoyed!) but now I have no idea where to go to level... Seems the story quests take you to the starting area of other races etc with low level quests.

So... how do I know where I should be going to quest whilst still unlocking the dungeons via the main story etc.

Sorry for the nab questions :?

The main thing to do, as you've already figured, is always progress your main story quest. To find the areas for quests at your level you can use something like this: http://home.comcast.net/~nakomaru/ffmaps/ (generally you want to be atleast the lowest level of the area to hope to find quests you can take). There's no set path for normal quests, it's just a case of finding clusters. Normal quests can only be done once per character, so if you do another class or just want to level quicker you can implement some fates: http://ffxivrealm.com/guides/ebens-fate-grinding-guide.26/ (go to the areas in bold for each level range, ie Quarrymill at 20-30, and ask for a fate group there, it's currently the fastest method for exp).

Also what server are you on?

At the point you are at you will have a main story line quest that will take you to three dungeons. Once those are done, you will be sent over to Camp Drybone, which contains a huge cluster of quests for you to sink into.

To check what level a quest is, I tend to just look at the EXP reward for it, and compare it with that of the main storyline... I also make it a habbit to make sure I visit the FATE spots if I'm in the area. even if you only kill 1-2 things you still get a good amount of EXP.

so in conclusion, just keep following the storyline and you'll find quests :)

That just sounds like any sort of farming for epics in WoW really. Only, this actually makes you work for your items rather than giving it too you on a plate!

Dunno, I kinda like that it takes a while to get the better items in the game. I'd hate to have them just given too me after a week or something. Every man and his dog would just be a clone of each character ^^

Admittedly, I've not personally experienced end game content yet so... I could just be talking BS! :)

I agree that it's nice that this game makes you work for things but it was this grind that killed it for me. I'd got my weapon from Ifrit HM, done AK several time (managed to complete it every time but it sometimes took a while) and realised i would be doing nothing but AK runs for the next month with not really anything else to do.

After having a wee go on WOW last night I realised just how polished this game is really considering how early on it is. I'm on Ifrit now if anyone needs to do that. Oh, my sub just ran out today and I'm poor, how much is a 90 day sub?

Completed the Copperbell Mines Dungeon last night with some help from some guys in WIND (thanks if you're on here). I enjoyed it more than the first two, probably cos I'm learning how my character should act now in a team.

I can crack on with the story again now so hopefully I'll be able to pick up the mount quest (anyone tell me where you get it from?).

You pick up the Mount quest after you defeat Ifrit IIRC.

So basically once you finish the quests in and around Camp Drybone. You'll get sent on a bit of an errand, and then get asked to pick which 'faction' you want to join. The first/second quest is to get the mount. (I'm currently in the process of this now)
