Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

Got a few questions, i played the original game when it was released, lasted about 6hrs before uninstalling, ive had the Beta access since phase1 but never really bothered, i had a look during phase 2 and made a Thaumaterge, played about 45mins and left it, come back this weekend, made a Marauder, got to lvl11 or so and decided yes i like the game a lot, but dont want to spoil it by playing it much before it launches, so with that said i have a few questions

1) As an original owner, do i need to re-buy the game? or just resub?
2) As an original owner am i entitled to anything special if i resub? like founder benefits of some kind, for actually buying the crap that was the original game
3) Are there advanced classes? like if im a Marauder, when i get to a certain level then can i pick an advance class like a berserer or something? or am i stuck with just the classes that you can start s?
4) Have OCUK decided on a server yet for release? would like to play with people from here if poss

1. No you dont need to rebuy the game unless you want it on PS3. You'll be given a download option when the game's released.

2. It depends what version you bought. If you bought the original Collectors Edition then you will get all of the ingame bonus items that come with the new one. You will only have "Legacy" status if you subscribed for at least 3 months when the 1.0 version became sub-based after the free play period.

3. The armoury system works depending on what weapon you equip. This determines your class. You can later on choose a job corresponding to the class you have levelled. So for example Marauder can become a Warrior. Jobs are more suited to Party roles and setups with unique abilities that separate them from eachother.

4. I'm not sure. Personally I'll be playing on Hyperion but will possibly move if the population isn't high enough.

For those talking about, lag the EU servers are hosted in Canada along with the NA servers so your latency will be around 110-120ms, slightly better than what you'd get to the Japanese servers before Phase 3.

They are saying there are no plans to move the EU servers to the EU but unless they can fix some of the issues of AoE still hitting when you are outside of the circle etc which will effect the game then they might get pressured to.

I've been playing on Moogle and not had any lag.

Ahhhh, i really don't know what class stick with.
I prefer melee based class's, think GLD has been the most fun so far.

yea I was on moogle to it's touted as the non official uk server on most gaming forums and it's one of the eu servers.

no problems with lag but I do notice when selecting my character that the JP server connection states excellent while the EU/CAN server states only good - on an iPhone 4S (EE) tethered.

Whats with that?

you only get one char slot though per server with the £10 a month sub right? So I'm going to play a bunch of different classes and figure which I enjoy the most and play that in the main game.

One character slot per server is £7.69 per month (8 max)
8 character slots per server (40 max) is £8.99 per month (using 30 day sub - less if you pay more0.

They're doing it this way because theoretically one character can be all classes - in practice you'll run out of quests pretty quickly so you'll have to grind to level everything - but the choice is there

No one know the size of the d'l yet because they added voiceovers to P4 which weren't in the previous betas - I'd budget for 20-25 gigs though.

You can do it all in every character. DinAlt said you will run out of quests but I do believe other classes have specified quests for you to do to level up, but I am not sure if there will be a lot of these or not.

Town quests run out at about level 15 - so you can get three classes to 15 -20 very easily (one per starter town) (and yes levelling is very easy). there are masses of quests outside the town but they're linked in to your story quest and all quests so far found (up to about level 35 in game) are one use only. However, there are repeatable tasks called leves which you can do but you are limited in the number of these you can do per day. the two other ways of earning xp are dungeons (probably best ratio of reward for time invested) and grinding - grinding is really not recommended unless you get a group and deliberately head out to kill stuff too hard to solo - rewards are very poor.

You put a lot of time into this game so far then DinAlt? I only clocked up about 5-6 hours in Beta 3, but really looking forward to it. You going to pick it up on release?
