Firefox 4.0 available to download. Official Release tomorrow

The length of time it's taking extensions to get updated is shocking. I haven't updated because of this.

Which extensions in particular? I have 28~ and all of them were updated by the first few RCs.

Anybody know how I might be able to move the bookmarks button. It disappears when you try to customise.

That's the unsorted bookmarks button isn't it? I think that's static where it is unless you drag the bookmark toobar in customise view to far right so it pins right instead.

Managed to sort it. You can drag it about in the toolbar customisation, it just was shown somewhere else.

How do you only show icons for the bookmarks tool bar?

...and get a separator in-between them all?

Add the bookmarks you want to the bookmark toolbar (in bookmark organisation) and remove all the names for each one. Separators can be added through organising the bookmark toolbar menu.

I was able to add my own icons using Favicon Picker 3 although this hasn't been updated to FF4 yet so some have reverted back.

Obviously adblock, noscript and Winamp toolbar has been updated but these are the one's that are still not compatible.

Apart from twentyten which has a beta out for ff4 the rest seem to be naff anyway.

Gpus being stuck at 100% is a driver bug. Ask amd to fix it, but they haven't obliged anyone else for a couple of months.

ah cheers, now i've been playing around with it, it does seem to be whenever i quit out of a game and not as some people report to do with java and FF4.

thanks either way :)

~edit~
humpf nope it is FF4 i think, loading gif's shove both gpu's to 100% and stays there.

liking FF4, but wish they made it as quick as chrome.

not my results but take from sr ware forums

benchies uses:

http://clients.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/index.action
http://www.webkit.org/perf/sunspider/sunspider.html

These results are all gravy, but chrome has the best performance by far, I dont really care about the system resource draw too much, chrome hogs up a lot of ram and cpu in order to prefetch data so that when you click a link or whatever it loads up fast. And the user ends up getting a near instantaneous experience. That's what matters at the end of the day, not the system resource draw. it's not like you're going to be playing video games in the background or rendering videos whilst internet surfing so it doesn't really matter that much.
