*** FM17 thread ***

The price doesn not reward anyone they put it up then say well we are giving discount for this or that no they are bringing it back to what it was before (these games used to be £20 now it's £40) no competition is a big problem.

Name a franchise that the price hasn't increased with over time. Mass Effect, COD, Battlefield, Far Cry, Assassins Creed - every new release the price creeps up or there's some gimmicky 'ultimate edition' for triple the price. FM @ £34.99 is more than acceptable as it's fan base will outplay any hours sunk into any of those franchises for a fraction of the cost

The fanboys for these games really can't see the big picture.

What exactly is the 'big picture'? Fanboys paying £20/35 on a game that even a casual player will likely get 2/300 hours out of whilst SI games makes a load of money? The only big picture is dev makes game, consumer buys game, dev makes money, repeat. No different to any other game, franchise, software or product in the world

Anyway. been looking forward to this for a while and the reveal had quite a few minor changes I've wanted for a long time. The main one (albeit a small one) is being able to take over a new club at the end of the season instead of jumping ship mid way through a promotion campaign.

Hopefully the AI is genuinely improved from a GK / Def perspective and the graphics reflect the actions of the defender (ie no more ice skating etc).

Genuinely think they have taken on board a lot more from the player base than they have since FM11 - FM12, time will tell how much of an impact the changes have on overall gameplay but hopefully this is the next FM12.

Looking forward to the Beta but I think it's going to clash with CIV 6 this Friday  hopefully not though, hoping FM17 releases on Sunday for Beta.

Won't be buying this as i generally buy the 'even years'. Not enough changes to justify buying a new version every year and i generally get incredibly immersed in one save and i'd hate to have it last only one year. 1100 hours spent on Fm16 and I'm in season 2033/34 :p

FM16 was the first version since CM2 I didn't buy. And I've had a year of missing it, but £40 is still a lot to stomach!

Don't get me wrong, I think the manager's in Football Manager 2016 look absolutely, laughably, terrible but I have this weird fondness for them. It's like, endearing that the quality is so terrible, similarly the 'regen' faces have been absolutely terrible too.

I think there is a marked improvement on the graphics this year, however, the 'YOUR FACE ON YOUR MANAGER' malarkey is looking like it could be hilariously, awfully, brilliant too.

Those regen faces are terrible :D

16 was (IMO) the best, stablest and most impressive release they have had in a long time. Perversely it is the one I put the least hours into in years as last year real life stuff murdered my game time, I'm not purchasing on release as after release I have nearly 3 weeks on/off in Europe for work so it will be a waste but will pick it up end of November and hopefully I will get some game time!

Does Football Manager 2017 Touch not work with tablets? Ideal for travelling.

Don't make me want to go and buy 16, I've just pre-ordered 17 :p

This thread is quiet for this years iteration. From what I've studied it is going to be awesome, so I recommend everyone gets it! It's the main reason I have a vastly overpowered PC!

Can't wait!

I keep refreshing Steam to see if the beta is live

Shouldn't be too long now surely.

Me too - I know I shouldn't really be too excited about it, as it has the potential to totally get in the way of a busy work schedule right now, but I can't wait for it to come out. Generally don't get too involved until the database editor comes out - as it doesn't get released with the beta - but I like to have a bit of a dig around the game for a couple of weeks before launching into a big save.

New post from Miles tonight, looks like it will be out tomorrow night! I'd arranged to spend a few days with the mrs just before he posted that, doh!

I've just given the green light for the beta. The process from now takes 24 hours or so. So you should expect it this time tomorrow
