Foglight Morons

hey illuminate the sides of the roads very well

Correction, they illuminate the side of the road immediatly in front of your car only - which is nowhere near as useful as it sounds becuase by the time whatever you may want to avoid has been nicely let up by your stupid foglights you are in no position to avoid it anyway.

Correction, If you are driving too fast for the road conditions then yes I somewhat agree....But in my case I was driving under the speed limit incase any wildlife were out playing chicken at 11pm.

Its the case if you are doing anything more than 20mph. They are useless, your headlights, especially if you have Xenons, are miles more effective. Maybe not as bright but you can still see everything.

I do, I just can't do it instantly ;)

tard, you should be able to anticipate when you see a light coming round the corner you know its a car so you turn them off, i hate people that leave them on right up the the point when your side by side!!!! it makes it bloody hard to know how much room you have between the curb and wign mirror, i swear im gona get a big old landy and just scrape the side of buggars like that !!!

I only wish I had xenons. For some reason the person who ordered and specified my car when new from BMW did not opt for them. They had everything else (which I thank them for and for paying for most of the depreciation :p ) so I can't really understand why they didn't chuck some xenons in too. Arhh well.

I've driven a few cars that have had them fitted and they are very good indeed.

Really? 'Cos you know I never thought of that

1. I don't know about your car but I've never seen a car you can dip the wing mirrors on.
2. You can't see as clearly behind you with a dipped rear-view mirror.

Which is exactly why I'd ban them on the roads.

Can the attitude pal.Just because a lamp is brighter doesnt make it bad, any idiot can see that that, if its poorly focused thats another matter entirely, personally i thinks its just something else people want to moan about, i do 40k a year, xenons have been a breath of fresh air for me.

You dont really need you rear view mirror on the motorway at night much anyway.

You're pretty much right there fox.. although I am being a bit of a hypocrit here..

I was stopped a couple of weeks ago before xmas, cuz I had my fogs on, didnt get a fine, he just told me off and let me go.. now the reason I have them on is because my dipped are totally pants.. and I only use them on on NSL country roads with no street lamps... and I always turn them off when theres oncoming traffic... again, as even the beams on them are totally pants.

I remember the day when I bought my previous car. It was a phase 3 Peugeot 306. On that car when you turn the headlights off, it would automatically turn off the rear fog light, but not the fronts. In the evening I came to turn my lights on. When I did it took me a whole 1/2 a second to realise that the front fogs were on from the previous owner. Either they never noticed that fact that there was a second bright green light on the dash, or was an arrogant "I know best" person.

A few months back I was driving down an open road in the middle of the day. It was raining quite heavy so I had my headlights on. Then I saw a 407 coming the other way. He not only had his fogs on, but was flashing his full beams at anyone coming towards him that didn't have theirs on (such as myself).

Why can't police educate people about the simple functions of their cars? Isn't improper use of lights an finable offence? It's a whole other area for them to generate revenue from

he does have a point though prehaps there was no need for the personal attack :p but i normally keep an eye on the road ahead if i come to a bend and i see lights in the trees or whatever ill switch main beam off right away before i have even passed or seen the oncoming car.

Stupid fog lights drivers tick me off a treat as well. Nearly always MPVs with them on around here. Also at our local tesco express people double park (over double yellow lines) along the main road when the car park is nearly empty, making it difficult to pull out

Well just been out shopping at merry hell, upon leaving said hell hole, i approached a young man in a punto with his fogs on, anyway i politely told that was no fog for miles so there was no need to have his lights on, to which he actually threatened to knock my block off, not a pleasent moment i tell thee :D

It seems a lot of drivers have delayed memories of around a week, when it was bloody foggy the amount of people with no lights or just sidelights was comical, and now when it's all disappeared and a little overcast everyone seems to have them on now! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :p

wow i hope you reminded him of what an utter moron he is.

ive noticed this year its much worse, I think it must b to do with the fact nearly all new cars come with fogs fitted in bog standard form. Ive got really annoyed by it too. The ones that get my goat are the ones with their fogs on and only their sidelights.

it may well make driving better for them, but its a selfish act and instead of just flashing them i have resided to putting my lights on full beam to see how they like being blinded. Considering i have 6 additional lights on my rangerover (4 above cab, 2 spots on grill) they cant miss it.

made me angry now lol.

Yes it didnt help that i was a little sarcastic and condescending, it was rather a scary and idiotic moment, and quite amusing as most people going past his car were calling him a twit (well a word very similar anyway) :p
