Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Email came through on Monday saying they liked my aptitude, character, would definitely keep me in mind for future positions etc

I used to think that was just a line they gave to let you down a bit more gently, but from recent experience some companies actually come good on this so keep your chin up :)

********...

I've got a meeting tomorrow myself with Ingeus. Do you still have to attend your normal jsa sign ons? my ingeus meeting is the same day I normally sign in for JSA was wondering if I still have to go for that after my ingeus meeing in the morning.

What a joke it's going to be, but i've braced myself for having a laugh as I have done with the job center for the past 8ish months. All I want to do is avoid working for 3 months full time getting "paid" jsa. 2 pounds an hour they can go **** themselves. As I said i'll just sign off 3 months reset it and then go back on if it comes to that.

well what im on is for being out of work for 12 months, not sure what you'l be doing if you have only signed for 8.

iv got to sign next week (my normal time) and then im supposed to just get a card that i drop in every two weeks rather than sign on. you should have had this explained about signing, give them a bell today to confirm whats going on and if you cant get through go sign on as normal. but if you cant make either apointment make sure you call before or they will stop any benefits for up to 6 months, even if you sign off and back on.

Just been emailed about a job, and looks RIGHT up my street. exactly what I want, not far from home (20 mins) and double my current salary.

Heres hoping :(

I'm suck in a rut and not sure what to do...any advice here is welcome!

I have a full time job, Mon-Fri, 9-5 working as a IT Tester in a company that I have been working for for about 4.5 years (5 years in Oct )

I earn £20k per year atm...

My problem is this...I have worked in 7 departments whilst I have been here - either in a permeate roll or as cover for peak periods etc.

I landed my current role by fluke...i have no idea what i am doing most of the time (despite working in IT for over 12 months now) from a technical stand point and the guy who i work with is just awful...he hordes all the work load, takes what little work I do manage to do off me.

They have recently employed another member of staff to work in our testing team (now 3 of us) who has no company back ground experience OR and IT qualification's or testing experience of any sort and he is being paid a lot more than me (I think we are of similar age too)

I am so unhappy in this work role...I was happier in my last position (I was a staff Trainer here and loved it) but the money was awful and i basically took this IT position for the money and experience and 99% of the time I am doing NOTHING from day to day and i hate it.

I have spoken to my office manager, and he said that they are looking to re-structure the department so they can put me in a position where I have my own work load and responsibilities, but that was 4 months ago and nothing has changed yet...

My thoughts are this:

A: Start looking for a new job

B: Stick it out and hope it gets better

Problem with option A is that I have no 'on paper' qualifications or experience in using industry recognised systems or programs - this whole business is ran on in house software or bespoke systems. Also whilst I was working in training (the role i really loved) I enquired about the company paying for me and the other trainers to go on a recognised trainers course but they refused it. So short of kicking everything out of the box and going to Uni at 27 years old, I'm screwed there

Option B all hinges up on how long I can hold out with the job being the way it is at the moment, before it changes for the better OR they fire me for just generally being ****....

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!!! :(:(:(:(:(

edit: spelling errors

Atleast you're on 20k, I basically run the helpdesk here and earn 12k. Oh and I run the website :o

ARGGGH, Why do I need to fill out your stupid registration form? It's all on the ******* CV!!!

Good points...and tbh I feel selfish to be whining about how **** my job is when i have a job...but I'm not happy...I would be more then happy to swap jobs with my boyfriend who is on less money (£2.5k less per year) and who is rushed off his feet 100% of the time!!

Should i stick it out or look for a change!?! GGGGAAHHH!!!

edit: starred the swearies :S

id stick it out and see if this restructure happens or at least drop a few hints if it seems safe enough to do so about the restructure.

Debatable :p

Really, homelessness is better? You'd enjoy the cold, and being given the runaround by so-called charitable organisations? Being spat on and called a faker? The police ignoring crimes against you and forcing you out of the area for vagrancy? At best, you'd make a few quid as a busker before being moved on.

Just a few months ago I was helping people avoid a similar fate, and they appreciated whatever aid the church association and its volunteers could give them. Guess it's time for me to ask them a favour now...

Back on topic:

trixilux, don't leave the company until you have something else secured to walk into. Unless of course your boyfriend's wage is enough to support both of you.

Bit of a weird one this morning, started at my new company this week and had an internal interview this morning for a specific account to put me on as it's consultancy work.

Seemed funny you're already working for the company, but you then get interviewed to see where you go within lol.

Yo uare entitled to have a windge about your current job role. You are in a job at least and a lot of people would probably love to be in your shoes right now.

It sounds like your department needs to do something to spice up your job role to stop you spiraling into depression mode.

Where I work we are currently planning day trips out (theres 15 staff)

Sorry Nitefly :(! Just amended my post

In new news...i updated my CV and re-added it to Job Site yesterday. About 2 hours later had a call from a recruitment agency wanting to speak to me as they have a development role...altho she said she would send me more info to my email and I've not seen anything yet :/...

Told my boyfriend when I got home last night and he was sceptical about it and now I think the whole thing as a scam to make her figures look good...scam??

One step forward at a time, you have updated your C.V ready to hand it in to anyone or company who needs it.

Rite, thats it, what are the best jobs to search for employer jobs only? I hate agencies =/

One agency wants to see me, but they're an hour and a half away =/ The job is 20 minutes down the road!!!

Well hey shifty, at least you get the courtesy of being replied to in a positive manner. ;) You're not that far off getting a concrete job offer. :)

True :) I'm not putting my eggs in one basket this time though, the hunt is still on as I haven't heard anything back, despite asking questions in the email I sent.

An agency don't need to see you, it's BS.

They can get your info on e-mail and spek to you over the phone. Tell them to search for you and that a silly meeting isn't required or practical.

I'm the one who applied for the job! :p

They've asked for the home address and number etc, its all on the CV!!!

Should I just reply and say the distance is too far to travel and if they will consider a phone interview?
