Forgot how bad job searching was :(

been hunting for jobs since the start of the week.

got a phone call off an agency today offering to put me forward for a job. Said Yes.

Got a phone call back this afternoon they replied back straight away and they want to give me a telephone interview tommorow.

quite chuffed :)

Had an interview this morning for a really nice role.

The job itself is pretty much perfect, ticks all the boxes of what I want to do and will be a good career move.

Downsides are the money isn't great, small drop from what I am on now (but a much better actual job), and it's 130 miles away. Which means if I do get offered it (find out Friday) I'll have to rent a room in the week away from the wife :(

So it'll be a tough decision, if they can up the money at all it might make it easier, just a pain it's in an area that's reasonably hard to get a decent paying job in when starting out for a massive company in a sought after sector.

Nice, congrats :) Is this in the info sec area?

Good stuff. :)

Yeah I know what you mean. Good result in the end though!

Thanks guys! It's nice to finally be in a place where I can see a step into some career progression. Been stuck in a job I didn't want to be in for the last 3 years, although I am very grateful for the experience.

Having 2 job offers on the table was a great position to be in, especially for somebody who stammers. Both roles are telephone based support jobs (one was for an ISP, the other more IT desktop based) and being offered the job over fluent people is a massive confidence boost :)

Last day at my current job tomorrow. Can't wait!

It is ;)

Large highstreet financial company (a major plus point), has a fancy job title that way exceeds the salary, but it's basically a pen tester.

Bit different to the governance/assurance type roles I'd been going for but it's something I'd love to do.

Just a shame it's so far away, at least if they don't offer it to me it's one decision I don't have to make :p

I'd like it though, a lot, just hope I came across ok in the interview.

Distance is an annoyance...but if the job is right buddy then hey? :)

I've known people to drive from Bristol to 15 miles east of Bristol :p...every day! There and back...Your journey will be longer but yeah, if the jobs right.......

I'm currently working a few miles away from my house, in a job I actually don't mind, but the pay is just terrible, and I'm really struggling at the moment...But I dare leave yet as i've only been here 7 months I think? :o

Got laid off my 2 year temp job, im told i can come back when the work picks up. Still looking for a job though as they think it will be around easter when there will be plenty of work.

I've no bother driving, used to doing 25 miles to work every day, have done it for the last 8 years from Torquay to Exeter.

This job is about 40 miles east of Bristol so just not commutable without significant time and money implications, so would have to move.

I'm looking to get in financial advice after I just left my last job. Now, when I was working I was very focused about what I'm going to do after I leave, now however, I feel lost!

I know this is a long shot, but can anyone point me in the right direction? I had about 4 positions I was confident about, all of which have failed. Now I have no idea what to do next. I'm just looking for sales advisor roles so I don't have to sign on again :( !

Had IBM on the phone again today as they wanted to speak to me, told them all about the new job I've been offered and am likely to say yes to on Monday, but they still want to talk to me.

So speaking to them on Tuesday still but have made it clear there's another job I'm probably taking. Thing is, I knwo the money at IBM would be a lot better, but not sure I'd enjoy the job as much.

A few other things falling into place with the one I've been offered too which make it more attractive (and see me better off) ;)

Had a call today asking if I can go to an interview tomorrow for 1:15AM. I seriously hope that was a typo and they meant 1:15PM :o

It'll be my first interview as well. But, I'm more concerned about getting there than the interview itself :p

Lol, more likely 11:15AM.

Don't you just love it when the job centre refuses to reimburse for travel to interviews too...

I've had an email as well saying 1:15AM so I'll email them back asking to confirm the time. Someone must still be half asleep from the weekend :p

Fixed :p

They probably read it from the email they were sending as they rang you, though how they could miss 1:15am is odd. Perhaps you should get there job instead :D

One interview down - missing the market experience (rather than the role experience) although it was a small company.

Just had interested from a couple of consultancies, one a senior position and the other being perhaps a little simple but it's a large well known consultancy which would offer fertile grounds for going up in the world..

Two weeks to go on the contract!
