Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Aye, aware of what to do :) (I created the thread :p) Just hate doing it alllll over again, I want to get a job I can stick at for a fair few years.

Still got the job I started in April. Can't believe I'm still in it really, it was originally only a temporary position which was meant to end at the end of August. But they decided to get rid of the two other temporary staff who started when I did and keep me on until Christmas.

During the same meeting where they said they were keeping me on until Christmas they also said there might be a chance of me still being there after Christmas and possibly going full time, but they needed to look into a few things first. To be honest though, if I end up going full time I'll start looking for another job because it's quite far to travel and I don't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. So, if I end up in a full time position most of my time will be taken up with travelling to and from work and being at work in a job I'm not entirely happy with, and that's not how I want to live my life in my 20s or any age really.

Vacancy I am interested in asks all applicants to submit facebook/statuses, news post, blog article for their up and coming annual review.
Just seems a tad odd but I suppose like a graphic designer it gives an idea what an applicant is capable of.

If I don't get an answer here will create own thread:

In regard to school qualifications.
Do you put the highest qualification acheived of a subject or do you list them each year you were awarded.
So if you took Graphic Communication up to Advance Higher (as an example) will you list it as:
School X - May 2006 - Graphic Communication - Advance Higher - A
School X - May 2005 - Graphic Communication - Higher - A
School X - May 2004 - Graphic Communication - Intermedia2 - A

Or would you just list it as one grade, ie
School X - May 2006 - Graphic Communication - Advance Higher - A

I suppose looking at the above example it looks messy with just on grade, and usually when I get to standard grades/int 2 I list it as "various awarded between grades 1 and 2."
But when there's more than just one grade, espeically one taken at avdanced level, it looks odd leaving just three higher grades.

For the english:
advance higher = A2 level
higher = AS level
int2/ standard grade = gsce.

And even more confusingly my school did a mixture of english and scottish.

anyone else watching newsnight at the moment, harping on about youth unemployment, what the hell about us in the 25-45 bracket ?! oh yeah we dont matter as we are supposed to have a career sorted.

as for chris grailing and his ideas about what jobcenters do, im guessing he hasnt actually had to use one, same with paxman out of the three miliband is making some sense, its a shame that if he got in power it would all go out the window.

What are they saying?
I just wish I felt saver at mine! That's all I ask. It's the other users, the poeple from the surrounding area (leith, granton, newhaven). Thing is I am probably closer to an other one but that'll be classes in east Lothian. And have to give roughly an hours travel time by bus =[

Job searching is hateful. The most irritating thing is having to take on a job that is really menial and that I know I'm too good for. Not to sound like a complete **** and no offence meant to anyone who works in this type of job, but out of desperation for work I took on a call centre job a couple of months ago and absolutely hated it. I tried to stick with it for as long as I could, but I only managed to work there for about a month because it was so mind numbingly boring.

The only positive of the job was that at least I have experience of working in a call centre so I'll never be tempted to work in one again. I'm now back to the job search and looking for something more suited to my skills, but my word is it tough at the moment!

Sounds right up my street to be honest :p

Well done buddy!

In true my-kinda-luck style this job has messed me around. I interviewed for the above, for the technical role, I showed that I could do the technical role. Then for some reason they have no stuck me in customer support, which is what I don't want to do.

Looking for another job after less than a week here, the only saving grace is hearing how Overclockers 'rob' all the stock before anyone else can get it. OcUK is well hated where I work.

I hated the JC. Despite them being nice to me at mine, you still felt worthless going in there, and when people heard you were on JSA, they said something or made this face, to make you feel even more worthless.

I did mind numbing hateful jobs for years waiting for the right one to come along.

Yes I hated going to work for most of it, but by the same token those hateful mind numbing jobs got me on the property ladder and paid to bring up my child.

Swings and roundabouts really.

Can't think of anything worse than working in a call centre, from experience.

List of numbers, a script, uninterested or angry people on the other end and someone on your back to meet targets.

Sitting in a room of desks with 1 telephone and a chair each with about a dozen other people all day.

Bailed after less than a week and didn't regret it for a second.

Oh =/

Thats so daft!!!!! I'd be well miffed! Personally i'd ask for a meeting to discuss why you are doing what you are doing instead of the job that you applied for

Hehe! Hate OcUK, silly peoples :p
