Former Russian double agent seriously ill in Salisbury.

Have they turned the gas off yet ?

Difficult to do without cutting their own nose off, they could stop ship deliveries of LNG perhaps.

They do have a history of silly games re: cutting off gas to Ukraine Even then there are potential solutions like reversing the flow from Western European supplies to Ukraine to assist them if needed.

any country that knows the genetic makeup of it can produce it... and considering post USSR cold war, the UK and the USA helped decommission labs that used to produce the agent both the US and UK will know how to produce it

What genetic make up?

It's A chemical not bioogical it has no genetics.

that isnt the same as no other country can make it, arent some of the guys who made it living in in UK & U.S ?

You'er right but the lab setup required is state level.

It' not a backyard operation its govenrment facility with top level staff kind of stuff.

So we can easly say it' a state that did this.

Now from the production methods you can narrow down to if it was produced by the recorded Russian methoeed (assuming theyd tell you) or another one (ie somone replicating it) but this so going to be hard to prove as i doubt any nation publishes thier methods for chemical weapon production

Of course the UK doesn't actually care that much because our way of life depends on Russian money as much as it depends on the child killing Saudi Prince that's just arrived, the idea that the UK is a bastion of justice is wearing dreadfully thin.

I know I'm replying to a fairly old post in this thread but it's the first that popped up in a search for "Saudi Prince".

Did anyone hear of Prince Bandar bin Khalid's death on March 12th? Does not seem to have been reported by British press. Arab and Persian press state his passing and offer condolences but most don't state cause or location. Some state it happened as he was being deported at a London airport. But they call it 'London International Airport', which is weird. http://en.humanrights-iran.ir/news-24997.aspx

The video floating around showing a man jumping off a balcony at an airport may not be the same person.

London International Airport is in Canada (might be others but I happen to know that one as I had a friend who lived near the airport).

Yeah. There's such a dearth of info on this that I'm not even sure which prince it was. Some websites carry photos of Bandar bin Sultan (George W Bush's old pal) while printing the name Bandar bin Khalid.

That's the one. Some Arab websites are posting it as being the suicide of the prince in question (whichever one of them he was) but some say it's an older vid of another suicide.

Brandon Lewis is getting a very rough time on Niall Paterson this morning on sky. Avoided answering most of the questions though but when pressed on the JC issue and the questions he asked seemed to accept the questions asked were valid (Paterson suggested he would have asked the same questions had the media been given the opportunity) he then decided it was the tone of the questions rather than the questions themselves. Pressed hard on Russian contribution to the conservatives especially from people hard linked to Putin and flapped.

It's highly likely I'm biased as I find him very weasel like but it was imho a terrible interview for him. Paterson's ending smile suggested likewise.

Boris Johnson just admitted on the Andrew Marr show to accepting a £160k donation from a Russian woman to play tennis with him

Interesting few points:

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said experts from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons will come to the UK on Monday to test samples of the nerve agent.

Mr Johnson, speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, described Mr Chizhov's claims as "satirical", adding that it "is not the response of a country that really believes itself to be innocent".

He said the UK had evidence that Russia, within the last 10 years, had been developing and stockpiling Novichok, as well as investigating the delivery of nerve agents for the purposes of assassination.

She was the highest bidder for that tennis match at a fundraising auction at a Conservative party dinner. IIRC the prize was supposed to be to play tennis with Boris and Cameron.

They could acknowledge these diagnostics/facts exists, even if they do not share them with electorate or fr/de/us allies .... maybe they will 'share' after any cuplrits are intercepted, or sources are in safety.
I don't understand why the media (international/home) are not speculating too.

They have done... they've confirmed they know the type of nerve agent used and that it is Russian. They've not revealed the details of the extent of the UK's ability to detect these.
