Fuel up/down again

6p isn't that much

So why complain to us about paying 140p a litre?

but if it prevents my EGR getting clogged, which then leads to my intake manifold getting clogged up also, surely it could save me money in the long term for any potential work needing to be done.

Do you honestly think you are preventing a large bill by using a different type of fuel on a 120d? You actually think that?

If you are that worried about big bills with a diesel you drive around town why don't you sell it and buy a petrol one - then it'll sound even more quiet around town and the fuel is even cheaper.

Did I come on and say "Guys, guys, I just paid 1.40 a litre, I've been bent over. Someone call the police as I feel like the nozzle went in me and not my car. I hate this country, Cameron out!!!111"? No I just stated that at 1.40 it does sting a little bit, hardly a massive complain and hardly like I post all the time about it

And yes, I think by running a cleaner burning fuel which doesn't produce as much crap when it burns etc will slow down, not prevent, the eventual work that needs doing on it. Surely that makes sense to you?

But my car has done 71k miles now and will be 7 years old end of this year, the older it gets surely the more important it is. I have no idea how the lady before me treated it.

I'm going to have this car another year or so yet so I will look after it the best I can, and if that means spending an extra 6p a litre, I will, but it will still hurt when I see I'm paying £1.40 a litre. But if I was to read something that suggested the cleaning effects of more expensive fuels are all made up then believe me, I'd have no issue changing to Tesco diesel and saving myself money

You just seem to be blindly spending extra money on fuel without any real understanding of why you are doing this, how it's helping, to what degree its helping and what, in reality, difference you will notice.

I'm not claiming to understand exactly how it's better or why, but from reading articles about keeping EGR valves cleaner for longer, and keeping diesels in good condition etc it does seem to suggest you can help things, no matter how small it is, by using these fuels. I do like to look after my cars so I did do a lot of research about what an EGR valve is, when it's used and at whats revs, and other things so I know how to look after it

I'm not claiming what you're telling me is wrong Fox, I'm just asking for you to show me something that suggests what you're saying is true. I'm more than happy to read it trust me

It's not for me to prove something isn't true, it's for you to prove that by filling up with superdiesel you are making a considerable difference to the condition of your engine.

Can you do that?

Why do some people buy 70 quid bottles of scotch then hammer it with 5 cubes of ice and soda?

Because they want to, or think they can taste the difference still.

Fox wont find anything to back what hes saying up despite him being right, because at worst its doing your car no harm, so if you feel it runs better or sounds better then just buy it, its 6p a litre, who gives a toss.

He has on numerous occasions posted the price he's paying for fuel in a 'omg i cant beleive it' kinda way.

All I'm saying is that its his own fault and that he should cease moaning until he's done all he can to reasonably reduce his costs first.

Paying £1.40 a litre to fuel a diesel hatch is silly. Complaining about it is amusing.

Im agreeing with you, but what im saying is if he "feels" a difference or in some way gains some comfort that in the long run its helping his car its worth 6p.

People moaning dont bother me, water off a ducks back, wait till you get married and have kids.

I think I've posted in this thread twice mentioning how much I pay and once was at the start of the thread just because everyone was listing what they pay, I joined in, and when I do it's not in a "omg I can't believe it" kind of way

Well I'm clearly wrong then if it's so amusing and silly

Does anyone know which supermarkets do NOT put bio diesel additive in their diesel? I've seen Morrisons add a percentage to their stuff, so I currently fill up at Shell only. Second question, how does this stuff really affect BMW diesel engines? Mine has a big cross through the words "bio diesel additive" in the inside of the filler cap.

I thought that all fuel companies do these days.

Don't quote me on this but maybe V-power diesel has less in it? There must be some reason why it costs ~5p/l extra!

I just drove past my local Shell and it's 259.1p for regular unleaded and 289.3p for diesel. I shudder to think how much VPower is.
