Fuel up/down again

Oh well, i'd rather spend an extra quid every time i fill up than spend almost £10 a day and 2 hours getting into work by public transport :o

I've only just started driving and in the last week or so I've filled up twice.

Today I was 123.9p to the sum of £57.77 :(

My last tank(50 litres) did me 300 miles...need to stop vollying the throttle.

that's 28mpg, depending on what car you have and what conditions it's hardly crushingly low!

I did my first £100+ fill up yesterday.
That's quite a milestone. Psychologically, less than £100 is pocket change but over £100 feels like a lot of money. Still I won't fill up for another 600 miles or so, so not too bad in the scheme of things.

All I'm going to do is run this car through the winter and try to ride most of my journeys to and from work on my bike if the weather is nice.

Likewise, although mpg doesn't bother me in the slightest tbh as I don't do a huge amount of miles per year anyway. I'll either cycle most of next year or use my other vehicle which despite hitting 60mph in under 3 seconds and nudging 170mph still returns @40mpg. ;)

Lucky you!

I need to get myself a road bike since I'll get it at trade + vat.

I was actually REALLY glad I filled up today as I found out I only had under 4 litres in my tank whilst sitting in traffic at charing cross heading to East Kilbride!

This could be interesting question as most of you on here are real petrol heads.

Seriously what price would petrol/diesel have to get too before you would seriously seek alternative? Not meaning giving up your car altogether but a point when you would have to take a serious look and think this is just a weekend toy or I will have to get something with super high MPG?

As I said I am really struggling at the moment due to some personal problems but I think if it got to £1.60-£1.70 a litre I doubt I could afford it everyday, then I would have to question insurance and road tax costs.

Unleaded 95 is 1.64 euro a litre here in The Netherlands, close to the record high of 2008.
And I thought it was expensive in Belgium!
My cheapest local is an unmanned Shell, which was just over 1.40 for 95.

Either way, my Lolvo doesn't even do 600km to 75 litres. And paying three figures to brim is just soul-destroying :(

I could probably save $50-70 per month by getting one of the three buses that drive by my house. Petrol would have to get to $2 before I consider the bus.

I was commuting from Bromsgrove to Cheltenham before moving. The current petrol prices would be hurting a lot right now.

The prices are starting to actually make me resent my Pug 306gti.

Ive never previously cared but the costs are ridiculous.

Cost £85 to fill the Monaro VXR today, good job it lasts a month! God bless my Mini with start-stop and its fuel card! :p
