Fuel up/down again

Either way I did some draft calculations and the maximum per litre I'm willing to pay is £3. After that, well they can go **** themselves.

I'll be back in a Rover 220SDi well before things get that far, back to running on veg oil! At £3 a litre i'd not be willing to commute to where I work anymore, i don't earn enough to be spending that much on fuel!

At £3 a litre it'd probably even be worthwile me running on red diesel and just risking it.

Indeed. People think fuel is the only thing about running a car, in reality it's quite a way down the list.

A 330d M Sport Coupe with the right options costs £1100 to change all 4 tyres on!

well yeh BUT if you REALLY wanted you could change all 4 for £300, yes you'd be putting crappy tyres on, but you could still get to work. The same cant be said for fuel, its 126p or nothing. Cant get to work on fresh air.

Last time I checked only 2 companies made a tyre in the correct size.

Not that sure how relevant your point is anyway mind.

Nope, still revving the nuts off my car. Tis only a weekend toy well I say weekend I use it durning the week but only commute 4 miles to work. On the weekend its fun fun and fun as usuall. :) 1.26 around here 1.31 for the super at BP.

alright, just saying with tyres you have a choice, fuel you dont.

You can change the way you drive though. I see so many people speeding around for no reason, hard launches from the lights, stamping on the brakes at the very last second etc. If you plan ahead, use engine braking and use as little throttle as possible, you'll save money.

A whole of £1 per tank? I doubt its much tbf. I wounder how much it saves?

My fuel light has just come on. According to the comp I have done 658 miles since filling up and averaged 52.4mpg thats a mixture of all sorts of driving. I,m quite happy with that not bad for a Vauxhall...

It probably wont reach that level for at least 3 years but once it has reached that level, I think we would have adjusted to the price. Also pedal power for the win.

And turn off the AC, radio and seat heating.

Radio will matter if you got sub amps and all that. Standard cassette not so much :D

More than that. I gained a good 5mpg by changing the way I drove to work and becoming a generally smoother driver.

Thats definitely the most important change to make. We had the guy going on about the petrol tank being full or not, obviously its not much weight but consider the entire weight of the car.
Every time you accelerate its a ton and half that has to be pushed, if you just coast along a lot more it'll certainly make a difference.
Just idling or being in gear doesnt use anything barely

Oil price dropped from 93 to 86 dollars recently unfortunately I just noticed uk oil barely went down at all. Usually it would, that sucks.
Highest price petrol I seen recently was 1.48

Will be interesting to see where this all leads to.

revolution in tunisa and riots in Egypt and Algeria so far

A 330d M Sport Coupe with the right options costs £1100 to change all 4 tyres on!

Also an oil product, prices set to rise ?

Cant get to work on fresh air.

I can - it's called a bike.

I live 11 miles away from work - far enough that I rarely bike it - only on those glorious sunny days when it's actually nice to be on a bike. Most of the time I prefer the car.

If petrol got too expensive I'd bike it all the time. I'd bike upto 20 miles each way - only about an hour and a half ride.

I don't NEED a car for anything - despite that we own 5 cars - I'm a petrol head and I love driving/cars in general, so for me it's a hobby - one I spend a lot of money on just like any other hobby.

I wonder if that's where the rising petrol prices will hit first - 'Hobby' cars etc being sold, the weekend 'fun' car being got rid of in favour of a cheaper hobby - the money saved going towards running the family barge on a day-to-day basis?

Crazy to keep letting the price rise, then wondering why there's less tax revenue as people start to find cheaper ways of commuting!

All the more incentive for car makers to develop even more economical engines/cars that use less fuel.

If the price of petrol is 2 quid I wouldn't mind at all if my car would be twice as economical as my current one.
