Fuel up/down again

Saw diesel at 141.9 in London today. :(

Fortunately my local petrol station is at 134.9 still.

Also, work has removed the return to office mileage on all business miles - which albeit is only 13 miles return, but that's still £2.08 which in a month can add up to £40 or so.
 
143.9 for diesel in Mid Sussex can find 139.9 but it's a struggle

The gap between petrol and diesel is now 7p up 1p from last week, the government have truly shafted the general public, encouraging everyone to get 'economical' diesels then whacking the duty up, nice long term plan.
 
First time i broke £65 to fill up last night in my little Clio diesel, when i bought it 6yrs ago it cost just over £40 to fill! From 90p/L to £1.39/L in 6yrs, jeez.
 
Saw a petrol station this morning with A3 bits of paper over the 3 saying 4, I wondered if they ever envisaged 1.4+ and only made the numbers >3

You think that's bad there's a station here with a two digit display XXp and a plastic sheet with "1" on it duct taped to the left XD

Filled up new car last night and forgot the tank is 10L bigger than the Honda's was, Turned round to see £72 on the pump and almost died XD

Could anyone tell me how much fuel currently costs retailers to buy? Is it 8-10p?

Edit: Might be talking out my trumpet here, wholesale seems to be around the 40p mark?

A friend of mine used to run a garage and he told me that the price they pay for the fuel combined with the tax/duty they had to charge was so close to what they had to sell it at to be competitive that their profit wasn't enough to run the place, they were reliant on sales from the shop to keep going and to make a profit.

They had to close in the end as a Morrisons opened 1 miles away and started selling petrol at what he believed was at costs (he thought they were selling it at cost and relying on profit from the petrol customers who also went to the supermarket to actually run the station)
