Games you're playing, and games...

m having to force myself to complete GOW Ragnarok.

The combo combat is a chore and just has no sense of fluidity and the story is boring. So far just over half way through.
I found the same with the first an canned it after a few hours, and never went back to it - just wasn't for me.

Sorry to hear this, I personally love GoW, I find the combo's good and rewarding when you nail them. I also find the story good, does help if you've played the old school ones too as you'll understand certain references made about Kratos and his past.

I've been a GoW fan since its first release on PS2 tho, so guess I'm bias.

Revisiting Spiderman on PS5, looks very good.
I'm pretty far into the game and the traversal is still super fun but my god, it's just as repetitive as I remembered. One of the worst thought-out, Ubisofty side content ever. That's why I dropped it back then but I'll finish it now because I don't have to put up with 30fps now and that makes all the difference.

Thankfully, I'm a Spidey fan and the core gameplay is addictive enough that I just don't mind. I'm also enjoying the cinematics and characters. Some good lighthearted fun, even with the overabundance of lame jokes, which isn't exactly out of character for Parker so:P

Also playing GoW Ragnarok which has picked up considerably after the first 10h or so. I still have some serious gripes with it, as with 2018, but it hooked me now and I'm having fun. Mechanically, it's not consistently a super-strong showing and the second-hardest diff feels noticeably easier than 2018 but parrying and comboing is still satisfying. What I enjoy the most though is the little dialogue between the characters and solid sidequests. Some way into Alfheim now, will see where it goes.

Also got Ghost of Tsushima on sale and it just feels so much more polished with fluid fun combat compared to Ragnarok.

The problem is Ragnarok cost almost £70 so I want my money’s worth. :(

I know that feeling, reason I rarely buy full price games at release now. I have the 1st game to complete still, was about to play it last week, but not sure I can be bothered, not sure the game is to my liking, I like the type of game, just the theme/setting is not my thing. I also much prefer easy to pick up games that don't require as much thinking. Ghost of Tsushima now that is a great game. Plan to replay that on my ps5 eventually.

Yeah, I'm the same. Huge Spidey fan, but I just couldn't play this game in long stretches due to the repetitive nature of the various activities. I ended up getting the platinum trophy a few months back ... but I've picked up and dropped this game for the best part of 4 years.

Just losing hours wandering around in god of war.

Ragnarok ? Or the 2018 GoW ?

Ragnarok, along with Elden Ring, were the games I was most looking forward to this year, but for some reason I find myself playing a ton of Forza Horizon again after a 6 month hiatus ( picked up the Hot Wheels expansion ) and Vampire Survivors !
The latter is very addictive and good for quick 30 minute sessions, or less.

Ragnarok. I’ve played far too much of FH, the hot wheel expansion is excellent.

Same, up to Chapter 10 now - it's a gorgeous looking game, and so far a worthy successor to the brilliant first.
Playing this, too. But I'm only on Chapter 4. It's a good game, but thus far I think I prefer the original. Story in this one feels way more contrived, and Amicia has turned into Lara Croft Mk2.0 which makes her less endearing. Interestingly, looking at the achievement list, approx. 84% of the people that have played this title haven't finished the game and less than a third have made it past chapter 2.

Currently on my second play through in NG+. Don’t believe everything you read it’s brilliant ha. I’d say on par with the first with some good QoL improvements. Great story with a cool ending.

I'm kinda looking forward to it coming out on steam

I'd expect that has something to do with it being on GP so "free"

Up to what I'm expecting to be the last chapter now - what an incredible game! If it doesn't get GOTY, then reviewers need their heads examined imo :D

I think Amicia's character has certainly changed, she's certainly more of an *** kicker for sure; but I assume the game might be a year or so on from the first one, so she's just got older and a bit more jaded with the experience of the first game maybe...

The story certainly played out well in this second outing, quite emotional at times too - haven't really had that connection with a game since TLOU and the opening bit!

So far, it's a solid 9.5/10 for me - I kind of miss the French accents, though I appreciate people said they didn't fit (as most other accents were English); but the actress who voiced Amicia did a great job in the first imo, though she's quite shouty this time around.

Interesting points. I actually played the whole thing through in French with English subs. Playing again in NG+ in English and the French VA of Amicia and Hugo are a lot better than they are in English. She is definitely a lot harsher whoever does the English VA.

It’s made by a French studio and I am learning French so I figured why not. It was worth it.

Got stuck into Front Mission remake on Switch today. We played the crap out of it when it came out on snes on a Japanese import. Playing through on classic mode first for the nostalgia and absolutely loving it.

One of my favourite games ever and it's brilliant to play it in English so I actually have a clue what's going on

Just finished Plague Take Requiem - solid 10/10 for me! Will start new game+ in a bit, maybe over the Christmas period.

I went back to BF1 and BF5 for some slower paced MP and wow, those games have not aged well.

Plus although ploughing 100s of hours into both games im now back to rank 0 on both. GG EA, golf clap.
