Games you're playing, and games...

Still very much enjoying Judgment, so glad I picked this up - Only got it recommended as I loved Yakuza Like A Dragon

They really are expertly crafted games, I don't know how they do it! everything just feels solid, enjoyable and the story is fantastic, I can only assume Lost Judgment is even better :)

More of the same. I read some opinions that felt the story wasn’t as strong and maybe so but it’s still pretty great I think. I enjoyed them both immensely. Hope they do more in the future as those characters are class.

I'm going to go against the grain here, but I've been playing Redfall and actually enjoying it. Yeah it's not the best or most complicated shooter but it does have pick up and play value. On the second larger area now and with my character levelled up its quite fun battling larger groups of vampires.

That's good to hear - I do like the look of the game and want to check it out once they have some bug fixes in place (I've got plenty to keep me busy just now!)

I'm trying to stay clear of open world games or anything online for the sheer fact it makes family life difficult, so I'm focusing on short sweet single player and roguelikes etc that I can pick up and play.

I recently purchased The Last Stand Aftermath, I'm a sucker for zombie apocalypse and this was £15 so I thought why not. I've heard its buggy and so far only experienced floating zombies. Other than that it's a fun little looter/shooter with mutation mechanics and a fun game loop.

Other game is Evil West I've been embroiled in Hunt Showdown for what is scarily the last 2 years (quit now) so I'm into supernatural style westerns and this certainly covers it but a complete change of pace. I'm coping with the gameplay I just hope I don't resort to button mashing before long!

Decided to give Days Gone another crack - having tried it 4 or 5 times, and sacking it off pretty quickly as the main character is a **** and won't shut up. Think I've gotten into the gameplay loop of it now, and it's not too bad - certainly no TLOU, but I'm enjoying it a bit more; though it's pretty annoying the grind to get camps up to level 3 - I have two of them on level 2 and have just done Iron Mike's to 3 - so have the schweeeet sniper rifle.

The story is super-fragmented and all over the place, a couple of decent characters but not enough to make it really good.

The gameplay is serviceable but not fantastic. I enjoyed it but got tired later on and the hordes are introduced way too late to save it.

Many people talk like it's some underrated masterpiece but I'd say the reviews were pretty fair, it's a 7/10 tops with the main stars of the show being hordes and Oregon itself.

Fully absorbed in Tears of the Kingdom ; just so much to explore and do in the game. Until the end of next week, then it's time for Diablo 4 ...

Personally I really liked the story and characters. Thought it flowed well.
Absolutely agree on you other well made points in particular the late hordes. I think this was a game that got the difficulty curve all wrong. Everything was super challenging at the start and was finding myself only just making it out of situations (like the first encounter with the bear). By the end though was so OP that entering into an area with 3 bears or Breakers didn't even raise the heart rate. The larger hordes had a degree of difficulty but were very much a rinse and repeat method and were kinda boring. I never thought mowing down dozens of zombies could ever be tedious but they managed it. Would buy a sequel day 1 however.

Bounced right off Hogwarts Legacy after 6h as it felt like a Hogwarts tour with a game tacked on as an afterthought and felt like playing something more involving so making use of Extra and alternating between Demon's Souls Remake and Judgment.

I'll maybe squeeze in a fourth playthrough of RE4 Remake which is the only game this year that I feel actually deserves the scores it got and didn't need ten patches on release:P

As for Demon's Souls, oh boy, I wish people complaining From games are too unforgiving/unfair etc. tried this game to see how the series evolved.

The penalty for dying is huge, you get right back to the start of a level with no souls and in soul form which slashes your health in half and every time you die the world and player tendency shifts towards black which makes it harder:D Compare that to, say, Elden Ring.

Even as a soulsborne fan I find it somewhat tedious. You can really see how much more forgiving their games became, even though Demon's Souls is easier overall but because it feels different it's still quite easy to die.

The game is gorgeous, though. PS5 launch title and destroys many freshly released games visually.

Yeah it is a beautiful looking game and the sound is also incredible in the DS remake. My tendency got so bad in one level I just gave up because the black phantoms were relentless. The lightning skeleton level can’t remember what it’s called. My fault for trying to farm there too early but it was fun! I will go back to it at some point.

I think it's better to just play in the soul form with the Cling Ring for example and deal with having less health, that way you don't have to worry about tendency going black as dying in soul form doesn't influence it.

I did not know that. I’ll create another character at some point and stay dead!
