Games you're playing, and games...

Ah I see, might give them a shot then, didn't know they were optional, incidentally I just found out Martyr Logarius was an optional boss! Makes me think now which other bosses were optional lol, ah well its all good fun and decent experience :D

Gerhman is that dude in a wheelchair right? I spoke to him the Hunters Dream then he vanished, never saw him again

Yeah, there are generally quite a lot of missables and secrets, quests have multiple outcomes and not all bosses are required, you can even miss basic equipment like rune workshop tool and complete the game without it.

EDIT: There's even a secret tied to Logarius himself that itself ties into a different questline but I won't spoil anything, maybe you found it yourself:P

Even Iosefka from the beginning of the game has her questline if you exhaust dialogues and revisit.

Is it the Crown of Illusions? If not I may of missed it!

I find the Insight mechanic very interesting, so my understanding is the higher it is the harded the game is, and also reveals more of the game in itself? The lower it is locks out of certain things, is that right?

I am currently at 59 insight

Yeah, the Crown and the "Illusion":P

Insight does change the world somewhat but it's not a big deal, they could've taken it further IMO.

With higher insight, the game gets a bit harder, you can see Amygdalae on buildings, hear baby cries in the background and stuff like Winter Lanterns singing from afar, music in the Hunters Dream changes etc. and some enemies get new attacks or get spawned in certain places, like the Cathedral Ward guys now have glowing lanterns covered with eyeballs and they shoot projectiles. You also die to Frenzy really quickly.

I think that covers it. Oh, and Insight Bath Messenger pops up at 10 but you've probably noticed already.

It's basically your sanity meter and how much of the real world is revealed to you, hence "Madman's Knowledge" and why you need 1 Insight to even see the Doll come to life:P If you drop to 0, you won't be able to talk with her as she'll become inanimate again.

Damn you two going on about Bloodborne. I played it for 2 hours straight today and it’s amazing how quickly you forget the framerate because the gameplay is so good. Not played it since release. The info about insight is very interesting I never even knew about that or what is going on with it. I did Cleric Beast but not got to father yet. I think I’ll just keep it installed and jump on it when I fancy some FROM goodness. So I guess not damn you but thank you :p

Just found a Stump in the Hunters Dream where you can put those hats on the messengers! Wondered what they were for... Don't know if that is related to insight but cool nevertheless

I’ve just fired up Quake 2 on the Series X.

Obviously dated now but still an absolute blast to play. Visual updates are nice too.

Really hope they do a refresh of Quake 3 and Quake 4 too!

I am just playing Dead Island 2. I am really enjoying it. The setting is great and although the starting weapons are pretty wimpy it gets much better as you rank up. The firearms are great, i really hope there is some sort of rocket/grenade launcher later. The aesthetics of the game are fantastic, it runs really well on the PS5 i have not noticed any stuttering/frame skip or jerkyness even with a load of enemies on screen. Its so much fun to keep hitting an enemy until their bones break and skin falls off, its REALLY gory. I got a grenade that you throw that dissolves enemies, i threw it into a group of enemies that were eating someone which gained their attention as they shambled towards me they were melting and their skin was falling off :D. The firearms feel nice and meaty although some of the bigger enemies are a bit bullet spongy if your weapon isnt that high level.

If i had any criticisms it would be something that i have with similar games. Game developers really need to create a engine addon that randomises the character models (skin tone, face, male, female etc) and their attire that you should never come across a zombie (In this case) that is exactly the same as one that you have already killed and certainly not 10 times in an hour of playing. I am sure that the coding would be tough but it would make a much more immersive game. Yes, in areas where there are military they would generally be in the same uniform but not the same character model with the same face and hair.

It does get a little samey even though the play area changes. However i love smashing zombies to bits so i can forgive it.. :D

Is bloodborne ever going to be remastered? Im holding out hope that one day it comes to pc in full glory but i know its probably never going to happen, i do have a ps5 so i could just play it on that i suppose.

After all the debunked rumours chances are pretty low I guess but you never know. Would've made them a lot of lolly so not sure why they're so adamant on not touching it for so long when some games are literally remastered over and over.

I'm replaying it anyways and if it gets a remake I'll just play it again.

TBH, the artstyle and visuals are still so strong that all it needs is a 4k/60fps treatment.

Even thinking about platinuming Sekiro again because of it.

I never finished sekiro, i should reinstall it when i get time. Cant remember why i stopped playing it, probably got annoyed trying to beat a boss, still havent finished DS3 either i couldnt beat sister friede and never went back to it.

Started Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me co-op with a friend the other night on PS5. Certainly the buggiest of the series so far, and you can't even invert the Y-axis controls as the menu won't let you save the settings (and like most games, it completely ignores the system-side control settings). Supermassive Games seem to be having some serious issues with quality control lately.

I think I am almost at the end of Bloodborne! I just got an invite to meet Gehrman at a tree, sounds end-of-gamey :D

All bosses are down  (I think) Ludwigs Holy Sword +10... I used the blood rock on it and not sure if I should have done now

That’s disappointing I was hoping to pick it up cheap soon.

Does anyone know when is the best time to play the Old Hunters DLC in Bloodborne? Should I finish up the main game, dungeons etc then dive in?

I heard if you complete the base game first, it takes you straight into NG+ and makes the DLC even harder?

Any advice appreciated :D

Around level 70-80 is a good entry point and it'll still be significantly harder than the base game.

Old Hunters in NG+ is a handful but I suggested playing the DLC earlier just so that you could experience all the stuff on your first playthrough:p

Well, the game has three endings and you probably missed some things anyways so no biggie:D

Going back to Assassins Creed Unity, kind of wish I hadn't... Dreadful, graphically it looks like a poor PS3 title. I will try and persevere though.

Jeez the opening area of the DLC is brutal, I am around level 120 and getting annihilated in places, made it through a blood river and went into a tunnel thinking it was a safe area.... and there was a bloke with some kind of machine gun! lol

Feels like this is going to be a fun ride!
