Gibbo

I was watching bullit the other night on sky and was admiring Steve McQueen's car, that was a 1968 390 CID V8 Ford Mustangs (325 bhp). Love mustangs, would love one but I think I would prefer to go old school. Doubt I could really afford one though :D

Well Gibbo, I was a tad disappointed when you went to a CSL from the 'stang....so you can imagine just how much I approve of the swap back :)

Even though I've never driven either, I prefer the Stang just from it's presence, so good one Gibbo..

The beast is back :cool::cool::cool:

As great a car as the CSL is, there's just something about that 'stang.

It cannot be explained, we cannot help what we like and what we dislike. It's not something technical that is on paper.

You love your car, all the features like heated leather seats, cruise control etc etc are all luxury's of something that you adore. With mine it's the rawness, the handling, the noise, the whole basic-ness of it which just all adds to the car that I adore as well :).

Penski likes rusty old VW's with the right "stance" - cannot be explained, he just likes them. In reality it's all it boils down to....personal preference :)

You are crazy Phate. As a fellow Rover owner sharing the same chassis, and as much as I love it, its doesn't present itself in the same solar system as the CSL. The M3 (let alone the CSL) is a very special car indeed.

So what does a Rover 400 have that the CSL doesnt which captivates you?

Absolutely nothing whatsoever. Except perhaps Pirates Black paint :p

Did I say it did? or did I say it wasn't?

I have never once said the CSL is crap, or that the MG is better. I was talking about people love their cars for a reason. Nobody can pinpoint it on one thing, the things they can list about it are all just kick arse aspects about it, but there is something about that car that draws you to it. There was something about the 'stang which took Gibbo back to it after having argueably one of the best handling RWD saloons going. It cannot be explained, simple as.

Well it can, it has that more raw feeling to it. Less refinement to it and loads of upgrade and tuning possibilities.

Sorry but there is no reason whatsoever to prefer an MG or anything along those lines to a CSL or even a M3.

That wasn't all you said tho was it. You EXPLICITLY said that you would get bored of the CSL, but yet wouldn't of your rover?

That is insanity, no two ways about it.

They are all technical reasons to add why people enjoy their cars...

I didn't say I would prefer the MG over the CSL - You'd have to be blind stupid to keep my car if someone offered me a straight swap for a CSL.

Yeah, I would get bored of the CSL, they do everything TOO well, same reason why Gibbo got rid of his, currently the Rover does not bore me in the slightest :) - It probably will after time, then it's time to move on and get something else!

I'm glad to see you've finally seen sense and gone back to owning a unique car, and not "just another BMW" ;)

Whilst the CSL was no doubt great - I did get the feeling you felt it was too great.

I hope you're going to the RR, cos I want a passenger ride!!

Have you ever driven a good car, ever?

Personally I preferred the last of the 360's to the 430, although I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on this one. That said, the 430 wasn't the Scuderia so as (apparently) that model is better than the others my opinion may change.

I would have to agree with you there, superficially I prefer the 360 CS to the scuderia, unfortunately not had the pleasure of driving them :( :p

spray it black :)
Am guessing your a little colour blind :p

HI there

Nope after I fitted the supercharger the front plate seem to fall off, here is the evidence of this:-

Do I miss the Mustang!!

Oh yes!!

Don't get me wrong the CSL is one awsome machine, but its actually too good and in comparison to driving the Mustang kind of boring. So yes I am missing the Mustang a lot.
