**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

hahahaha everyone is RMA'ing their card.

And people are still buying it???

I'm tempted as it offers near 580 performance for half the price

even a 10% failing means 90% are happy if we wanna put a positive spin on it (you can tell im trying to convince myself)

As i'm building my new system around the graphics card, im hoping i can eliminate any potential problems with this card by choosing the right psu and motherboard for it

I would agree, actually I did. My card arrived last Friday & so far it has been one hell of a card.

Performance is very close to my mates 580 in an identical rig

I just sent mine back to Overclockers. Just hoping they test it properly and don't fob me off! It is possible to pack it inside another cardboard box and still be under 2KG for special delivery if anyone was wondering. I have a feeling loads more are faulty and some people just don't know any better, I would advise everyone to test their card thoroughly to make sure it is performing as it should...

Good luck. Please keep us updated.
Testing normally finishes the day after they receive it.

excuse my thickness but can i ask the diffrence between the
SOC
and
Special edition is ?

and if i bought the special edition will i get the same problems,or should i go for the asus
or is there a reason to go for gigabyte cards

Thankyou

The SoC are supposed :S to be tested to hit a certain margin above the factory overclock, while matching certain power/heat characteristics and likewise the PCBs are supposed to exceed certain levels in power saving and heat. Seems the Special Edition only exists because they've had a good few cores/pcbs fail to meet the required levels - this doesn't mean they are bad - in most cases the SE version should be considerably better than the reference GTX480 design and most of them seem to overclock to atleast stock SoC clocks stable with a little voltage push.

You're not guaranteed to be problem free with either card - it's just that the SOC are more problematic. I would still recommend the SOC

SE = standard clock speed 700mhz etc etc and the SOC = 825 (unstable for some ) Mhz core
My soc is performing beautifully so there are some that work

Farcry 2 is £4 odd so NO its not worth going for the asus IMHO
