**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

^^ yup could well be

mine had 2x Molex to 6 pin adapters

which seemed pretty pointless to me - as one of the power inputs is 8 pin ...

what they expect you to do with the other 6 pin adapater ? lol

Thats odd OCuk said to me there was a 6 and a 8 in the box ?? its about to turn up via DPD in the next hour according to the tracking so it better or i wont be able to use it lol GRRRRRR

well perhaps my box was miss-packed

but mine definately had (amongst other things)

1x 6 pin power to 2x Molex
1x 6 pin power to 2x Molex

it did seem odd to me - so perhaps person packing it put 2 of the same thing in by mistake

annoying as could have done with the 8 pin one

Just checked my box for you, only 2 molex->6 pin pcie I'm afraid mate.

Comedy isnt it supplying that with a card that needs a 6 pin and an 8 pin :(

I think you can get it to work, from memory I think you just short the 2 pins but of course check elsewhere to be 100%, can;t say I would be doing that either with a new 480

that will Pi55 me off as i specifically asked the guy who sold it to me and he opened the box and checked and said there is defo a 6 and a 8 and i even asked twice !!! so there gunna get a rocket up there ar5e if there is not. maybe they have recently started shipping with 8's ? lets wait and see

Mine came with 2x 6pin power leads, good job my amazing Coolmaster 750w has a 8pin connector.
Though according to OCUK my PSU is not good enough to run this card & the counter assistant recommended I get a better PSU. After it apparantly passed their testing with 800w & 1000w PSU's.

My card box was not shrink-wrapped & the card anti-static bag had regular tape on it.
When I returned the card to the shop, the assistant brought out 2 other boxes, neither of which was shrink-wrapped.
I also asked to look inside another box & that also had regular tape on the anti-static bag.

Its pretty random (they recieve them like that from the AIB) if GPU boxes are shrink wrapped or not these days, same with the contents - not something thats under OcUK's control short of opening every single one up, normalising the contents and shrink wrapping it themselves.

ok thanks for all your replies regards the shrink wrap, i guess somebody at gigabyte touched the heat sink as they were putting it in the bag

sometimes you forget these things are made by humans and not robots even though it amazes me how smart the people who invent these things are, it's way above my pay grade :)

same
Any news on your RMA Buckster?
I've got my RMA number so will be sending off soon

nope nothing yet

hoping for that email - very sorry but we can't repair - but will replace with a 580 - 2 week wait though

but dreaming aside I'll be more than happy for one that works out of the box at stock volts and SOC clock speeds :)

My first faulty card that I RMAd had no shrink wrap and 2x molex to 6 pin PCI-E adapters. It also had a bit of glue smudged on the front of the heatsink shield from the factory presumably, but it scraped off easily enough. I think mine had no tape on the anti-static bag and a slightly creased manual, but the card is fantastically built! Like a real work of art in terms of circuit design and manufacturing quality!

I will post a review once I receive the replacement SOC card.

Found an XFX 850W Core PSU online for £68 inc shipping, so I will test it with that and compare the +12V voltage drop under load with how the old card and OCZ Modxstream 600W behaved.

Do Overclockers price match ever?

Haven't tried. Call their sales team. I will be buying loads of stuff soon so will try

This comment debunks any proof of re-selling cards

I think what everyone is wondering, is if we've been receiving cards which have previously been returned for whatever reason.
As re-selling is being practiced elsewhere, eg. I bought a universal remote from Argos & the touch screen was covered in fingerprints, meaning it was not new & when I returned it the attendant replaced it without question.

Due to this cards higher than normal failure rate, then more cards will be returned & thus, consumers are naturally concerned about re-selling & receiving a card which is sub-par.

A shame theres no way to verify then, that this underhanded practice is going on.
As my experiences of OCUK have been less than encouraging to develop a trusting relationship, then Im airing on the side of caution & will always research a product outside of the OCUK website in search of trustworthy information.
