Gin recommendations?

Birthday present from the kids. I had this when I was on holiday on Herm last month, with Fever-Tree Elderflower tonic, it's absolutely divine.

Our local Adsa has the Fever-Tree eight packs of small mixer cans for £3.49 at the moment which is the best price locally.

It's more than that in the other supermarkets, I hadn't checked Asda before.

Depends where you live I suppose. The Asda is located in a town that's more strongbow and stella than gin so that's why pit's probably cheap.

I might be wrong but I think the price of the standard fevertree tonic went up recently due to the increased tax on sugar.

Has anyone tried Musgrave gin? It's probably my favourite gin now, we bought a couple of miniatures of the standard and pink gin in South Africa a few months back and we both really, really like it. The pink gin has a good whack of rose to it but the standard stuff is my favourite.

I've not looked to see if it's available over here but when the bottles we bought in Johannesburg Airport have gone we'll go looking.

I see everyone mentions Fevertree tonic, I personally have always used Sainsburys own brand regular or diet tonic for 35p, I find it perfectly fine.

There’s a difference between perfectly fine and excellent though.
Having said that, the Waitrose own brand stuff is very good.

I'm fine Schweppes or similar fine if I'm chugging Gordons or similar. In fact I always thought Fever Tree was a waste of money!

If I crack open one if my good gins though, Fever Tree makes a huge difference; you can taste the subtleties of the gin.

Fever Tree is my go to at the moment.

Sainsbury's do one that seems quite new, Merchants Heart I think, the other half loves it!

The problem with cheap tonic is that due to the sugar tax most of it now contains aspartame which is disgusting. Waitrose own brand seems to be the only one that doesn't have it in, besides FT of course. You need to be careful in bars too, sometimes they give you diet tonic (even FT) which has it in. Yuck!

Can anyone recommend a Gin for a Christmas present, they have a few already such as Roku and Rock Rose. Want to try and get something they haven't tried.

Look at the very first post in this thread. You can pretty much guarantee they won't have tried that and it's excellent. Still my favourite by a clear head.

May I ask where you purchased? , I normally get a lot of my spirits on Whiskeyexchange, but I don't think they stock it.

@Feek, ordered, looks like a nice gin, got a free sample of Christopher Wren gin as well, which was funny as I was looking at that previously on another website.
