Agreed with the above, I know it might be controversial but I can't stand Peter Aliss either, 20 years ago his commentary was fine, but nowadays he just goes off on a tangent talking complete rubbish. Could well be age setting in but still, it's highly annoying.

Agreed, much prefer Faldo or Roe.

What are your guys thoughts on a slight (less than an inch) lifting of the lead foot during the backswing? I've gotten into this habit recently as I find it helps me to really transition into the downswing properly with a shifting of weight back onto the front foot, if that makes sense?

Fairly certain lifting the lead foot is a very traditional type of swing, if you were taught years ago it was seen as a natural movement.

As long as your body stays 'down' it should give you a longer swing if you are struggling for shoulder turn and not make it harder to return to square at impact.

I saw that in an online video lesson recently and keep meannig to try it !!
I can't remember why it was a good thing to do but he said it was...lol

I'll try and find the vid.

Played 18 holes at Boysnope this afternoon and I must admit it was the first time I haven't enjoyed playing since I started playing golf last year. The heat was sapping which affected my game.
Playing again tomorrow and I'm hoping for cooler temps.

Got to love/hate this game sometimes.

Putting has always been a solid part of my game, my "get out of jail" card on the bad holes.

I've always been pretty solid and average approx 29/30 putts a round (over last 50 rounds)

Yesterday at our clubs open competition with 180 players, I hit the ball, tee to green as well as I've done in years, and shoot net 71 (gross 81) but with 36 putts!!! Awful - just terrible. Worst putting round in memory for me.

Anything close to my average putts and I would have won it easy (think net 68 won it).

Will drive you mad this game - honestly!

i watched a fair bit of the open over the weekend and i was disgusted to see Tiger Woods still spitting on the golf course, i know a few of the USA players do this as they chew tobacco (still not right!) but Tiger doesnt chew... i cant stand him for doing this..
your thoughts?

Get over it!

Jim Furyk did an "Adam Scott" at the weekend, he lead the Bridgestone Invitational for 71 holes, needing a bogey to win the tournament, he missed a 5 footer to double bogey the 72nd hole and hand the tournament win to Keegan Bradley.....shocking, if there was one person in golf i'd have thought would not fall apart under pressure it would be Furyk.

Mind you i did something similar today, 43 out which is not ideal, followed by 49, yes that's 49 back in !! First plus 90 score in ages. Stupid Game lol

:)

Found a bit of form recently.

Last 3 competitions at my club I've shot net 68, net 71 and net 70. (CSS normally 72 but was 73 for the last round)

So handicapp has gone from 10.9 to 9.5. Hitting the ball well at the moment.

Also shot 84 less 10 round Turnberry on Friday night with possibly the most beautiful conditions and place to be ever.

Then monday myself and 3 players from our club won a local Charity Day in a texas scramble. Prizes were new balls and a new 3 wood each!:D

Then last night won my doubles tie to reach the final of the club doubles in possibly the worst conditions I've EVER played golf in. Clubs and bag are still drying off now after 12 hours!!

Nice little vain of form at the moment but I know that will come to a shuddering halt shortly!:p

Sounds like you are playing well Booyaka. I'm a bit (if you'll pardon the pun!) hit and miss at the moment. Played last weekend, had a total nightmare thinning wedge shots around the green to the point that i had 9 points at the turn, then it all clicked and i had a 29 point back nine with a 3 under par gross, 5 birdies, 2 pars, 2 bogeys, the two bogeys should have been par's but left them an inch short, one of the pars lipped out and one of the birdies lipped out on a par 5, could have been an immense 9 holes!

Well - the good form continues in fantastic fashion. Still terrible at hitting the fairways but they are only 20 yards wide at our course so semi rough is the most common!

Horrific start losing a ball up the 1st but played very solid golf, some great course management when out of position and shot 77 less 10 for net 67. That will come down to a 66 for handicapp purposes so CSS like to be 72 means another 1.2 cut!:eek:

Was 10.9 6 weeks ago, and 4 rounds later, i could be 8.3:p

Managed to get out to Cray Valley today. Pretty easy course but very pleased to get nothing worse than bogeys in a 78 which included a two-putt birdie on the par-5 last. Great to walk off with a bird but disappointed to have missed the eagle putt! Now if I could just play more often (7 rounds this year :( )

Got out again yesterday and had 39 putts! Including a four-putt double bogey :(

I used to be a good putter but now my lag putts inevitably end up horribly wrong. It seems to make a huge difference if I leave the flag in; is it because I then think of it as practise? Hmm, maybe the problem is in my head not my hands.

Pro's Weekend at Worlebury
47 points today, stableford with a couple of twists, 1st twist was double points if you use an old skool driver with a tiny head of the 1st, 2nd was double points if you putt with a mega long putter on the 15th, 3rd was you had to hit your tee shot wearing a crash helmet and had to putt with a crazy wonky putter, 4th was double points on the 18th if used an ultra midget putter :D

Tomorrow is the 3 clubs and a putter, should be a laugh :)

Broke 90 for the first time today :D Frustrating bit's I could've easily taken another 4/5 shots off my score, but for a few sloppy putts and wedge shots.
Bear in mind I scored 112 on another course yesterday and my lowest round before today was 96. Really chuffed with the achievement! Go me! :D
