Has anyone taken the plunge and invested in the new Taylormade Rocketbladez irons? I'm reading a lot of reviews on forums and have to say I'm tempted to go and have a bash with them..

I've not bought them, but I have had a hit with a 6 iron at the range the other evening. They certainly go well, I was getting 10+ yards with them over my current irons. I wouldn't consider them though as A: They're not the prettiest B: they're not forged and C: They're not Mizunos :p

On a different note I've finally purchased a laser rangefinder, I'm hoping this will be the final piece of the puzzle to get me down to below 6!

Ive gone for lessons for Christmas, can not wait to get going properly, am not going to tell the 2 guys I ahve played with so on our first outing of the year I hope I have improved some :D

Just got:

Combined hcap then halved, so playing off 19, first time i've had two shots on a hole for 2 years lol
20 out and a poxy 15 back, winning score 46 !!

Punch and hot roast potatoes waiting in the clubhouse when we got back in :D

Won 4 balls on the Goffle ;) Sod all on the Xmas draw tho :( Nice prizes too, 2nd was a brand new RBZ Driver !!

I have the same shaft and it just suits me. I haven't played with the surefit yet, have just left it on A1 which seems fine.

Might have a play with it later in the year.

Well I've managed to hit under 100! Been playing just over a year and hit 99 at the weekend (par 72 course at Aylesbury Vale).

Happy with progress and have set a handicap of 18 by the end of 2013, which I think is achieveable. Currently at 24, although that +27 was my best so far.

Noticed I have an issue with long range SW and Pitch shots (around 70-100) mark. Always seems to slice right, either a bit or a lot! That would suggest to me that the face is open at impact and the videos I've seen online suggest to move ball further back in stance, but surely that will just allow the face to be even more open at impact? They've mentioned as well about having your hands in front of the ball, so will give this a go at the range tonight.

Anyone have any other suggestions on this?

A slice is often caused by an out-to-in club path at impact, usually as a result of going over-the-top in your downswing. Try not to swing with your arms in the downswing - use the turning of your body to propel your arms and this should help to bring the club to the ball straighter.

This is worth a look

Thanks for this mate. Tried it out last night and was getting great connections, although its very easy to go off balance using that rotation. Have a painful back today as a result!

God it looks awful. Don't think it's that much improvement over the R11/S, I've got the R11, was tempted to trade it in against an R11s at the local shop which was only £129 then take off £50 for trade in. Was talking to the pro's at the shop, they said the best thing TM have done recently are the rocketbladz, my mate who works there as a teaching pro (turned pro on +2 so can play a decent game....) plays Mizuno MP59's and carries his 6i around the 180yd mark, he was carrying the Rocketbladz closer to 200yds!!!!!

I've been fitted for and am currently awaiting delivery of my Taylormade Rocketbladez. Should be here this week but I want them NOWWWW!!! Have been fitted for stiff shafts which I'm a little nervous about as I understand you get a lower trajectory on the ball. Looking forward to adapting to them though :)

Played in my first competition this weekend, I didn't play too brilliantly but me and my partner finished 2 under par in 4BBB Stableford in a 16 hole competition, so it wasn't a bad showing for our first effort. Played with a couple of really nice older guys who played off 7 and 9. I was worried going into the competition about looking silly in front of them but you couldn't ask for a nicer pair of guys. Will hopefully get to play with them again soon.

Their consistency off the tee was what I was most envious of. My own driving has deteriorated a little recently with my irons becoming more consistent.

Getting there, slowly but surely!

New Taylormades look awful - the stupid tiger like strips on the top. All wrong.

I'm sticking with my Burner 2.0 for now and will see what the years golf brings - normally can't be arsed starting golf till end of march/april anyway!

The new Nike Covert driver looks pretty exciting... Quite what is covert about a bright red lump on the end of a stick is anyone's guess though!
