If you're intent on getting a wood then may I suggest trying a 3 wood opposed to a driver. My accuracy's all to pot with the big boy, but far better with its lesser brother.
Go to AG and try for yourself it's the only way you will know.

Just a suggestion on a driver, try the Nike Sumo , only a few years old , very forgiving, regularly go for around £40 on the bay.

Played par 3 on Sunday, improvement is massive for me. the holes feel "easy" after playing a full course and I was much better with club selection, I could get into this game no worries :D

I've never heard of that brand but for £70 its good for digging holes, as thats what your going to be doing at first. You need to learn your swing before thinking of getting better clubs.
The only thing I will say is go along to a golf shop and get yourself measured as you might need longer clubs depending on your height.

I'm pretty tall but have no bother hitting balls with standard length clubs.

Ended up buying a full set of Titleist DCI Graphite irons for £60.

Just need everything else now :D
I think atm you should work on getting your swing right before investing anymore, you never know you might hate it after a while. Also I will echo what a lot of others have said and see a pro for some lessons, it really helped me a lot.

what did you think of the controversy on day 3?

Cant decide if it was a genuine mistake to pull the 3 wood (could not see Sergio), a complete idiot in the crowd with zero respect or gamesmanship on Tigers part?

I guess we will never know... but we can accept it was an idiot in the crowd haha!!

I had a chat in work with a fellow employee about this and we came to the conclusion Garcia was moaning and making a big deal out of nothing. Apparently the crowd was at least 3 - 4 people thick between Woods and the fairway so he would have had some job seeing Sergio as well considering how far in the trees he actually was.

Tiger is entitled to pull the club out of his bag and if the fans cheer how is that his fault?

Final point Sergio could have easy stopped and stepped back and if he had already hit the ball then what's the big deal.

Not good. Stick with footjoy!!

I'll be honest with you, my first thought was Footjoys, however after looking through their range nothing really jumped out at me saying "Buy me". All rather bland if I'm honest. The FJ Sports and XPS look ok I guess, but I've had a pair of Sports before and they split too!

Nikes TW13 are supposed to be great although I'm not overly keen on the styling.

I've got my backup black Ecco Hydromax 3s that I've been wearing through the winter, which incidentally fit like a slipper, but I do like to have a nice pair of white shoes for the summer :D

So I've taken a punt on some adidas adizero tours even though I vowed never to buy adidas again after my Sambas fell apart :o

Surely they can just be returned to Puma?

The shop I purchased them from has offered a full refund.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi.

I have taken golf up over the last couple of months and am loving it. I inherited some old Dunlop maxfli australian blade irons (v old set but they are cool imho) and some horrible old Ben sayer driver and 3 wood. With these I have been pootling around at the range with some free lessons they offer. The blades are hard to use but if I get things right out is hugely satisfying. The driver is horrific and v hard to hit with.

I've had so much fun over the last few months that today I took delivery of my first new club; a Cleveland classic xl custom (new but half rrp on the bay) to replace the driver in my bag. Tomorrow will be exciting!

I want to get out on a course for the first time in the next few weeks and see how horrifically this sport can actually be!

Had an iffy round today. great in patches, couple of birdies but then lost two balls off the tee late on. I had a highlight of a drive to the fringe of the 5th but a poor chip and a two put left a bad tasting par. I need to get my driver under a bit more control and tighten up a pull on my irons :( The putter was great though.

Played 12 holes on Wednesday evening, Really pleased with my iron play, managed to drive a Par 4, but my short game was appalling. I seem to have developed a consistent shank with my chip shots. Even though everything was a disaster within 20ft of the pin the bit I'd been working hard on (iron shots) was great , so I'm happy.

More work to do!
