Changed my orders from taylormade to ping. Taylormade are very fancy and supposed to be long clubs, harder to hit as well with longer shafts to increase distance. I just want a club that does what it says on the tin, the Taylormade stuff is all about ego. I was trying my bro's Burner hybrid out hated the thing changed my wood and hybrid order to Ping G20 now i am happy.

I think i jumped to the Taylormade band wagon because every body has Taylormade and it messes with your head tbh, im happy with my ping irons and driver should have never opted for taylormade in the 1st place.

Also Mizuno are a brand im going to pay a lot more attention to when im buying the latest equipment. Was looking at there 2014 line and it's very promising and they dont claim to give u an extra 15 yards with every new club u buy from them.

The G20 long clubs are good, my dad uses those. The drivers so big it's almost impossible to hit badly :p

Honestly, I think TM are good for long clubs. I bought a Stage 2 Rocketballz hybrid not too long ago and it flies like a missile. Lots of people use the TM drivers as well, particularly the R11.

Obviously TM do bring out a lot of equipment and have a different selling strategy to those at Mizuno, ping and titleist, but some of their equipment is very good. At the end of the day it's all personal preference and feel.

As Saint says, it's all horses for courses. One year ping will suit your game, 2 years later it could be TM, 2 years later it could be Callaway. That's why it's always best to go in with an open mind and try as many different brands, shafts, head combinations as possible.

I've played TM for 5 years and am still happy with my 3h, 4h, 4i-PW, I've just moved to a Ping G25 for my driver (from TM) and 3 wood (from Titleist), wedges are a mix of Ping and Callaway. I've tried my mates stage 2 rocketballz and they go really nicely.

I'm totally addicted to golf!

I had another lesson yesterday. When I first came to him a few weeks ago I was lifting off my front foot on the backswing and straightening my back leg. Now I have fixed that. Now he says I'm exaggerating and twisting my upper torso too much on the back swing, and has given me an exercise to correct that...

I have been playing since August, I'm on a 54 handicap but determined to get it down into the 30's by next summer, I think I am pretty decent for a beginner.

I'm playing twice a week (usually 9 after work one day and 18 on a weekend day), and I'm really happy with some of the shots I'm making, my favorite is a 7 iron 120 yards over the lake and plopping onto the green. I do still make some shockers though!

I think what you meant to say is that you're playing around +50 over par, as the highest handicap you can have as a Male golfer is +28 mate.

I remember when I first started and was hitting the 7iron about 100yards and now probably hitting it around 155-160. It's crazy when you think about it that way.

I think half the difficulty with golf is that you're constantly having to adapt due to swing changes, new clubs, golf balls etc.

EDIT: Oooh my Ping G25's have arrived, picking them up after work - can't wait :)

Juniors can go up to 54, and I believe some European countries also give up to 54 handicaps too.

Enjoy the G25's I'm definitely liking my driver and 3 wood. Only paid £290 for the pair which is also pleasing! :D

Looking for a new driver to replace my G10 going to wait till feb when all the new stuff hits so i can get a good deal on this years stock. The look of the Nike covert really appeals to me if it performs similar to other drivers when it comes to trying it i will put it straight in the bag.

Looking forward to playing tomorrow :D

Same mate, although weather is going to be heavy rain and wind.. great conditions for the monthly medal!

Also going to the range tonight to give these PING G25's a blast! Hope it goes well else I'm going to fail tomorrow :p

Nice have a good en! Im just rocking the pro staffs for now :)

You in competition tomorrow or just playing a round? The weather might just put me off if it were a casual round!

Yep could be dreadful weather for our first round of the Winter league on Sunday!

Although to be fair we've had a cracking Summer for golf this year. I've played 4-5 times a week and can only remember getting wet twice!

Was at the range today hit every iron shot perfectly was drawing and fading the ball so nicely for the first time ever trying and even straight shots were like arrows. My wood and hybrid how ever was terrible. Hard to work on my game only going to the range once or twice a week and playing very little. Going to get a lesson for my longer game.

Had my competition this morning and shot a net 69! Ping irons were awesome :)

Could be looking at back to back medal wins, after winning division 3 last month and maybe division 2 today! Very happy :D

Quick update: Came 2nd! Gutted, I thought I had that one bagged. Got beaten by one shot and I shot a Net 68 so the guy ahead had a really good day.

Shot +15 (18.0 handicap) and handicap has been adjusted to 16.7 now, very happy :)

Was looking at my stats last night and I've managed to go from:

August 2013 - Handicap: 24.0
October 2013 - Handicap 16.7

Hard work is paying off, which is pleasing

Nice improvement! On sat I played my usual style of one good hole, one bad hole, one good hole...

Out of 18 I parred three or four, did ok on about nine and had disasters on the rest :) It is almost as if I know I am going to make a bad shot before I take my setup sometimes! Maybe I am rushing too much and just need to slow it all down a bit and take more breathers before my shots.

What did you end up with mate?

As I've found out recently, you have to think positive on everything and 100% don't take the shot if you've got a doubt. Little point I've made about my shot routine, is when you're waiting for others to take their shot, don't do loads of practice swings as I find that puts you off. I just wait until my shot and do my usual routine of 1 rhythmic swing and then hit it.

About the usual 54 over including penalties!

The frustrating thing is the inconsistency! I parred a par 5 and then the next hole put three balls into the lake :D

I am going to start taking a lot more breather time inbetween my shots because I have noticed that a good first shot off the tee and I will generally play the hole well, but a dodgy first shot and I will rush the hole and score highly...

The biggest single thing for all golfers (amateur and professional). My bad shot is a plain simple pull. I can stripe it round the course for 16 holes, then BANG! out of nowhere I yank one straight left. It comes from nothing except for a minor drop in concentration where one little part of your routine is forgotten (normally I dip my left knee a fraction) and the top half tries to recover, but to late, hips are to far through the ball and off she goes Robin Hood style ("to the treeeeeeeeeeees").

Have a little ryder cup competition on sunday with people from my society, Italy vs Ireland cant wait for it should be great fun. In the winter im going to practice on working the ball as much as i can, right now my normal swing is reasonably straight anything a few yards off line i am happy with.
