That looks amazing! They do look fairly expensive though and might be better off just getting some lessons, as a pro should be able to spot weaknesses in other parts of your swing in addition to the swing path.

Just got back from the range and really loving my Mizuno MP54s now, getting so much height with them and a nice slight draw now I have fitted clubs. Annoyingly, I've only managed 2 rounds with them since I got them (early Jan) due to the weather, and even those rounds weren't really in good conditions. Just gotta keep going at the range I guess!

Oh absolutely. I do keep having lessons, I just think it would be a useful tool to ensure I'm keeping on the right track.

What a great weekend for golf!

Went out yesterday and went around in net 67 (gross 80) at my local club which is my best round ever. Shame about 2 3-putts which meant I didn't break 80.

It almost feels like playing out of poor lies was worth it to see the improved ball striking when the ground is actually dry!

I'm out tomorrow and hoping the course should be finally completely dry!

I bought one of those superstroke grips for my putter last week, so looking forward to giving that a try

Re: the post above..

Shot my best ever round +10, 6 under my handicap of 16! 8 Pars and 2 birdies so very pleased with that :) one of my birdies was on the S/I 1 hole.. hit a nice drive down the middle, hit a hybrid 210 into the wind to 6ft and slotted the birdie!

Our greens had just been cut, so found them a lot easier to read the putts and also felt the SuperStroke putter grip really helps with the short putts.

Congrats on the score, i was going to get a Superstroke grip on my putter as well but then i just switched putter to the odyssey x 7 for the same price with a trade in on my TM White Smoke blade putter.

I putted brilliantly with the TM last year but my first round back this year i struggled with it and i realised just how easy it is to miss hit putts with it. It is very sensitive to twitching like all blade putters so i opted for a face balanced putter now, hopefully it will make me more consistent now.

What putter are u using atm and how do u find getting used to the new grip?

Ah I hear a lot of people are after the x7, must be good?

I personally prefer the classic putter shape and I use the TM Classic smoke Daytona 79. It's also why I opted for a slimmer superstroke grip, instead of a fatso like most use. I'm answer to your question, I've only used it once which was Saturday and it felt great for all shots! I need a bit of work on my stroke as it's catching the toe a bit on long putts, so a bit of an out to in swing.

I used to have an in to out putting swing then i changed it to be dead straight, really improved my putting as i was rarely ever 3 putting. Ye when i swung the x 7 the face doesn't move at all or twitch it really is a solid putter, still waiting on it to arrive this week can't wait to use it.

I have managed one round up to now this year and considering I had a new driver and new putter in the bag I wasn't unhappy with a 92 (3 over if you took my unofficial handicap into account)

New driver - Cleveland Classic XL

Only hit it a few times but once I get comfortable with it, I suspect it could be a bit of a bomber

New putter - Taylormade Sebring 62 Ghost Tour (a competition prize on a golf specific forum)

Previously played a mallet so going back to a blade I was a bit unsure, but I just seemed to click with it straight away, only had 3 3-putts and all of those were due to being in the wrong place on the green and making an absolute mess of the first putt with both line and speed

Playing again this weekend and hoping to get the first of the cards handed in so that I can get an official handicap this year - tracked it last year using an app on my phone and was hovering around 17 so my aim for this year is to get back to where I used to be years ago (played off 12) and even see if I can crack the 10 barrier over the next couple of years

I've just take up golf as we've moved to a new place with a small course just down the road, and house renovations and kids have killed my other more expensive hobbies!

Quick question - do people sometimes play on their own, or is it always with a partner? None of my mates play, but I'm keen to get some time on the course as well as the range - I've got some lessons on the course booked and have spent the winter on the range practicing and getting lessons, so I'm itching to get out there and play now!

Played my second round of the year on Sunday and we were able to submit cards for handicap purposes, so I have got the first of the three cards required

The driver was working very well off the tee and the putter was just as good once I got to the green, only had one 3-putt all round

Par for the course is 37/35 = 72

I shot 44/37 for a nice round of 81

Needless to say I was pretty happy with that round for only the second one of the year, and if I keep that up I will be starting with my first official handicap at a lot lower than I was expecting.....

I have done if I find myself with an unexpected opportunity and no-one able to join me. Two things can happen: you have a good quiet quick round maybe with a couple of extra shots here and there to practice or you join up with people you've never met before and make new friends.

I've played a few rounds on my own, I find it useful if you wish to experiment a little without worrying about your card.
Playing with a partner/partners is great for banter, learning from each other and it can also help you to try harder.

Hi guys. I am looking to buy a new bag and have narrowed it down to two I really like. Would love to know if anyone is using either bag:

a. Nike Performance Hybrid Carry Bag
or
b. Wilson Staff Nexus Carry Stand Bag

Both quite pricey so I want to make sure I pick the right one. I love the look of both but like the club separators or the Nike and the much sturdier stand system of the Wilson. Input would be most welcome on use of both brands and always happy to take other recommendations too. I rarely use trolleys so my preference is a mid size bag that I can carry and it must have a decent stand system. My strap on stand is really sub-par *bom-tish*

So then guys the masters whos got what down?

Ive got a couple quid on kooch each way with a 1 each way on garcia westwood and donald

Who fancies a new champion this year?

Maybe Westwood at a push of them three Europeans, I fancy Scott to retain it with Mcilroy close behind.

Looking forward to a good major, with hopefully nobody running away with it.
