Some quiet trousers to go with the sunshine!

Royal and Awesome? :D

I threatened to buy some, but the missus said she'd divorce me! "Reminds me of that Daz advert" she says...

The most I can get away with is something like these Poulters and even they are deemed beyond the realms of good taste!!

That's a bargain for Turnberry! Was that on Teetimes/Teeofftimes?

Me and a friend played at Bridlington links a few weeks ago. The coastal course not the inland grassland course. Drove up from West Yorks and even though Brid itself is a dump, the course was great.

Brid links is a nice course, we usually have a trip there most years to play that and Flamborough Head. Brids a proper dump now though on a night, even through summer.

Like the blue Poulters, I've got the Blackwatch and Whitewatch tartans which get a few outings a year at the club, though they are dry clean only which is a bit of a pain!

That's a good idea, how much was it to play, if you don't mind me asking?

First full 18 of the year today at Wike. Played stableford off 22 which I thought was a bit harsh but managed to pick up 31 points which I didn't think was bad!

Also, new bag arrived (just after I got home ^_^):

Quite fancy a new (novelty) headcover for my driver, anyone got any recommendations?

I've been looking at getting some new Poulter trousers recently and found the Blackwatch for £30 at Golfbase. A complete bargain I thought, I didn't realise they had to be dry cleaned though.

I have a barely used Daphne grey donkey headcover which would go quite well with your new bag :D

You can have it for the cost of postage if you want?

Royal and Awesome indeed. Pretty tame compared to my mates trousers! Pic to follow.

Think it was a Groupon deal - £100 for the 4 ball. Even allowed us to play on Easter Monday with no issues.

edit - mates trousers -

Bit late in updating the thread, but got my three cards handed in so now have my first official handicap of 14

As an aside, I took the best scores on each hole from the three rounds to see what my eclectic round would be and that worked out at a 75 (+3) so not a bad start to the year for me :D

Got a charity day on the May bank holiday (5th), then got a couple of golf days organised from different places on the 22nd at Rockliffe Hall, and the 23rd at Morley Hayes

After that, the next golf trip away will be at the beginning of July when we head off to the Marriott St Pierre for a 2 day event - hoping I will have my game sorted to a decent state by then as it is a bit rusty at the moment

It was £14 each which was a bargain for the condition the course was in, baring in mind we had a tee off time of 3pm so it may of been twilight prices. Excellent course though, recommend playing it.

We tried booking Whitby for the Sunday afternoon at 3pm but they said they have local club comp every Sunday aft. Really wanted to play there but after a few phone calls back and forth the best they could do us was "You can just wait and see if we can fit you on" baring in mind we were driving two hours to play golf we didn't fancy it.

It'd be cool to do a few courses down the east coast over a long weekend and stay in BnBs while up there. Might look into that later in the year!

Hi Guys. Been on the forum for a while but new to the golf thread! Member at Wrotham Heath Golf Club in Kent. Any from Kent here!?

I play irregularly at Pedham Place on the A20/M2 junction so close to Wrotham. Not a member anywhere as I don't play often enough but looking for more games if you're ever looking for people to make up a group.

Seems like a few more Leeds players getting on here. I play at Garforth, I know Gilly has recently taken the game up too, maybe a local meet up to play a track or two.

If you are doing the east coast, 2 courses to play at Seaton Carew and Cleveland, proper links courses and when the wind blows it shows you what a seemingly easy course can do when affected by the weather!

First medal of the year for me this saturday, not expecting much as haven't played for 6 weeks through illness and putting my back out. First out at 7:30am means I'll have to stay off the ale Friday night too.

I'm still regularly shooting over 110 (when i say regularly, I mean when I get to play). Got some lessons now so will have a grip of sorts and so on soon :D

I've been turning up and bashing it as hard as I can before now. Doesn't work too well.

This sport will no doubt kill my wallet.

I picked up my clubs after not playing since i was about 16. as my Dad and I decided to go to the driving range this weekend as he wanted to get some extra practice before a game at woodhall-spa this week. I had a lot of fun after royally stuffing the first few balls I managed to find some of my old swing.

Currently watching a few sets of Ping I3's on an auction site as its what I was using on the weekend and they felt excellent. Got an assessment session at the Ranges in manchester next week. Will not be pulling the trigger on anything after that. Except buying a glove as cant find mine and my hand hurt like hell after hitting 100 balls

I take it the Woodhall Spa day is the Golf Monthly one? Also, whereabouts in Manchester do you play? I'm currently looking into joining a club around here but I can't seem to make my mind up.

Used to play at Dewsbury District GC. Was a decent track up until they recently tried to make some "improvements"

Would love to be a member of Low Laithes, great course.

Played my 1st round of golf tonight by my own at my local GC after a gap of 8 years as I didn't want someone to see how bad I was. Turned out I didn't play that bad, shot a 90ish, did pick the ball up and clean it a few times so not an official score.

Main things I found out tonight.

1. I'm not fit, I was knackered at the end of the round, I carried the clubs, all new stuff btw. Me feet ache now, new shoes didn't help.

2. Couldn't drive for toffees with my metal woods so relied on my 21 degree hybrid off the tee, not too bad, 1st time I've played with a hybrid, don't think they were around 8 years ago.

3. Chipping was atrocious, I suspected this and is the thing I really need to knuckle down on, I ended up putting off the green.

3. Putting, not too bad, I was always quite good at that.

Aims for the summer, get back to my 14 handicap and work on the fitness.

Never played at Low Laithes though I drive past it most days. Have you been up to Willow Valley?
