Golf Thread

I played today and started the first five holes even. I birdied two holes, parred two and double bogeyed one, then it all started to go downhill. It was the most bizarre thing, I started out feeling so confident and relaxed, then I had a poor hole on the 6th where I got a triple bogey and from there on things didn't feel right. I ended up losing all six balls that I went out with and had to skip the last hole because I didn't have a ball left!

Ive completely lost it, i cant even hit the ball straight again anymore. I went from having a unbelievable round parring many holes to not even being able to hit the ball correctly.. think i'll be paying for a few lessons to put me right its so frustrating how things can change.

Woohoo!!!! I broke 100!!! :D:D:D

Played this morning before heading away for work and got round in 98 :D:D

Generally played really well, had a few lost balls and dropped a few shots with bad putting which could have helped me even more but was a great round for me. For the first time I was actually hitting back to back good shots with some good putting. Really pleased and can't believe I done it :D

Wednesday and Friday games where I now need to hope I can actually keep that level up :)

Cheers chaps :)

Don't know about 90 Maccy haha, I just need to replicate sub 100 a few times first. Wednesday round confirmed for Tynemouth and Friday for Morpeth so couple more chances to see how I get on.

Question to those who have been playing for a number of years. I've currently got a two strap Callaway bag which I have to carry around with me, I've only recently started playing golf and notice that by the 14th hole I'm starting to struggle and get sluggish. I'm tempted to pick up a second hand trolley to push around to save some energy, plus everyone else on the course seems to push rather than carry.

Spec me a trolley please.

Make sure you get one that fits your bag, I got a new Titleist bag recently but my old trolley isn't big enough to support the base so sometimes comes off.

Depends if you want a push one or uber lazy with a battery?

I used to push but now carry as you can get places your sometimes cant with a trolley. Don't have to walk round greens and and aprons. I try and take the minimum in terms of tops, trousers, balls etc when carrying. If you are looking for a push trolley I find it more tiring up hills than carrying. Its all personal preference. Was thinking of getting an electric trolley just for the summer.

Can't say I've really thought about a simple push or battery operated one. I imagine a battery operated trolley just requires the player to steer it in the right direction and use minimal force to actually push it along ?

Apart from not being able to get to certain places w/ a trolley, are they any other drawbacks to using one ?

1 extra thing for the car journey. Have you got space for it? If you get an electric one you need to charge the battery after 2 rounds max on most of them unless you spend big bucks on a longer lasting one. If you leave the battery at home they are pretty tough to push around. There are of course pros to it such as you can get a lot more in cart bags. They all come with dividers for each club. You can put an umbrella stand on your cart. Some of them have nice gadgets like home many miles you have walked in total, temperature and so on and of course its just easier to walk with nothing on your back and saves a lot of energy. Just make sure you stop if before you play your shot. I have seen so many peoples trolleys rolling into lakes, trees, bushes and people haha

I've got a Clicgear push trolley. Had it for 5yrs now and it is very easy to push, fits all bags. They are expensive new, around £190 but can get it under £100 if you are willing to wait and go second hand. Folds down nicely and i can get my bag (have to take driver and fairways out) and trolley in the boot of my Clio.

For electric, a good starting point is the GoKart range, i think they look good (they are a bit marmite though) and the customer service is supposed to be second to none. My main issue with electric though is the charging, having to remember to take your battery home with you and put it on charge and then take it with you to the course again.

Anyone had trackman lessons? isit worth the extra £25 as opposed to just having a normal 1 on 1 lesson? think i might just stick to standard lessons and have a couple to put me right.

Where you looking at Trackman, Quinnaay ? Grange Park Golf Club up Kimberworth do it. Not used it myself but have seen others using it when at the driving range.

That's where I'm going for my lessons mate. It's minutes away from my house. I'm just not sure it's worth the extra money just yet as I'm pretty poor.

Well I got below 100 again straight away.

Finished work earlier than expected and got back to the hotel with nothing to do. Played Forest Pines again a course which has tortured me in my previous 3 round there (+58,78,52) and I nailed it :D got round in 98, which is 25 over :D

A few lost balls again and some duff putting stopped me getting a better score again, I was just consistently straight and my short game was good, some of my putting was obscenely good for myself, the highlight a 40 footer rolling the lip and just sitting out :D. I seem to have picked up a fade on my tee shots which I couldn't shake but considering I was consistently doing it I just aimed left more and ended up in the middle anyway :p

Still 2 more rounds this week and if I can manage sub 100 in both I'll be beyond overjoyed! :p
