I'm still struggling to consistently score to my 28 handicap, just too much inconsistency in my fake still.

Still, first year playing so hopefully next year I can kick on.

Just completed the monthly stableford at Came Down. Started on the back half of the course, Par on the 11th then 3 blobs in a row then my game decided to kick in and by the time we completed the 10th I had scored 38 points. Another .8 cut so down to 22.2 hopefully, was 2nd last time I saw the results screen so will probably be top 3.

Great day today at the Cavendish AM AM, We were in the lead with 81 points when we left at 6 this evening. We won the texas scramble there earlier in this year, so to win this as well would be awesome!

Anyway here's a few shots I took on the way round. If you ever get the chance to play then I totally recommend it. Beautiful course in the heart of the peak district. Golf really doesn't get much better!

I second that. I've played Cavendish a couple of times now and it is probably my joint favourite course. Don't go in winter though. Winter greens and when it is cold there, it is very cold.

Never been in the Winter, although I can imagine how cold it would get up there! I think Cavendish is now my favourite course with Hawkstone Parks old course coming a close second.

We ended up winning the AM AM and picked up £75 to spend in the pro shop. It's a pity their pro shop has a pretty poor choice of anything :(

Liking the look of the new M series Taylormade driver but I bet it'll be rather costly! I'd like to see the performance figures of it compared to my SLDR or the R15.

First game yesterday since my wrist injury, first hole I got a birdie, then a few pars then it just went a bit down hill.
Score was the same as normal, I think the problem was I took it easy so not to damage wrist to begin with and as I got more confident I swung bigger and harder and that cost me.
Defiantly something to work on and glad I can play tomorrow in a charity match, I thought I'd end up walking off half way through in pain.

Played in my club championship on Sunday - finished in the top 10 in my division, but it could have been a lot better.....front 9 I went out in +4 gross, but the back 9 was a shocker at +12 gross to finish with a nett +2

Too many doubles and a triple on the back 9 cost me because if they had all been a bogey I would have been level with the best score of the day for my division

But that is golf for you and I can't complain after being laid up ill until only a few days before the competition - there is always next year

Playing Slaley Hall next week, should be tragic :p

Which course?

Played the queens park open today and won the visitors category by 4 shots with a 17 under which was best 2 from 4 stroke play.
Also got a nearest the flag on the 160 yard 7th so good day really

Despite the mist, I managed a round of 81 yesterday which gave me a nett 67 (-5)

Only 1 double bogey on the card but a (lately) rare birdie was managed as well, with the rest of the holes being 8 pars and 8 bogeys

Not sure how many more rounds I will be able to get in as that will depend on the weather, but there definitely won't be one this coming weekend as I am away

Nice one. Weather was great this weekend for me. Managed to get out Saturday morning and win our Swindle which had our biggest turn out yet of 20. Then played yesterday too in an Aussie stableford competition which made for a nice change in format. Has anyone played it before and if so what was your team score. I would be interested if anyone managed a worse score then us.

Good job man, well done! How are the new irons going?

Good job man, well done! How are the new irons going?

New irons are going well, I am getting really comfortable with them now

My biggest issue early on was trusting myself with the new distances that I hit them compared to my old irons....I would stand over a shot and pick the iron that would get me the distance I wanted but I would then doubt myself because I was still thinking about what iron I would have been using from my old set

Once I got out of my head with that I started to see a lot more consistency and it is showing in my scores and the differences between my highest and lowest scores

Next on the cards is a proper driver fitting - I am currently hitting a Callaway 815 Alpha with an Aldila shaft that has been tipped by about an inch and I am seeing a lot better shots than I was with my own driver, so I want to look at being fitted and finding the right setup there that gives me the consistency off the tee

Once I find that, I feel like I can break 80 again (assuming my swing is working properly as well) and then get into the 70's on a consistent basis and get my handicap into single figures

Posted about the worst comp result I've ever had today! Literally the words "cows arse" and "banjo" come to play! I think my tempo was a mile out or I was trying to rip at it too hard and didn't go back to basics to try and fix my game I just gave up in my mind.

I have testing day coming up soon at a titleist fitters and I have my heart set on some 716 AP2's 4-PW so hoping that I can hit them as well as I can hope. Only problem being if I get the AP2's is that I'd need a 52 Vokey as I don't think I'd need a sand wedge.

I want some nice forged clubs but sadly TaylorMade don't make any that I like although the RSi 2's do appeal to me but they are an older set now.

Might give the AP2's a go and give it a few weeks for the new gear to become available to the public as all I have seen so far are reviews from YouTube so not able to put my hands on things.

Shot +5 in the kirk cup bogey comp yesterday bit of good leaf on the board and at least one more shot of not two of I get another ESR pull which with 2 4 or better round in 3 comps probably will. Flying to Turkey on Tuesday would be good to go with a 9.9 handicap
