I'm prepared to accept that TopTracer is not fundamentally unreliable but it does depend on conditions and how it's been calibrated.

Suppose the system is based on launch angle, ball speed and spinrate to determine distance. If you're hitting range balls, the last two numbers are not what you would have if you were hitting a premium ball. Even hitting off a mat has been shown to have a difference from hitting off grass and different mats have different impacts on how the ball is worked by the club.

Don't get me wrong; I'd rather use a bay that has a TopTracer than a bay that has nothing but I don't put too much trust in the numbers it produces.

I've had a few sessions where TopTracer has been unreliable, but the vast majority of them were OK.
Doesn't it say above that it tracks the ball all the way down the range? I did watch it on my phone yesterday with kids around me, so can't quite remember :p
Like you say though, I guess it's still a lot more accurate than guessing where your ball lands.

Another lesson today... Pro happy with the progress. (4th lesson)

Keep working on my right hand grip (stronger) and "over exaggerate" the shut face on the way back as I have "fanned" the face open on the way back for years.

Club path is gradually improving.... Was on average 10/11 degree over the top last year - hit around 30 / 35 balls today and average was down to 6.8 degrees out to in so a good improvement.

He's said if I can get that down to around 4/5 degrees that would be more than playable to a decent standard as getting it under 3 degrees or less would require a substantial swing change/rebuild which no amateur's would want to do unless deadly serious about their game.

Only other point to work on is that when I take the club back - I have a tendency to straighten my right leg out which in turn on the downswing forces the club out and over the top. I need to try and keep some "flex" in that leg....

But main focus - keep working on the things I've been doing, grip and takeaway. Very decent grouping/consistency today so pleased with that.

As you wish

Nice one.... Enjoy - Good luck for the season ahead!!

Brilliant stuff.

Get yourself down a Toptracer range and get your averages for yardages when heading into the new season.
That way you have an idea on yardages when playing etc.

I played for only the second time since Oct yesterday.
Yardages coming out of TopTracer were spot on.
I've so much confidence in these clubs compared to my Ping i25s.

Couple holes I tested yardage theory.
Par 3 playing 211 but downhill. 5 iron. Pushed left but landed green side. Normally this would have been my 4 hybrid.

Par 3 playing 163 yards. Slight breeze behind us so picked out the 8 iron. Landed front edge of the green (3 yards on). Normally a good 7 iron

Par 4, 171 yards left to middle of green. 7 iron to left hand edge of green pin high. easily a 6 iron or gripped down 4 hybrid previously.

Looking forward to better weather and course conditions.

Already played 36 holes with them.
Slowly getting used to the distances with how they play live.
Was having my best score ever earlier today, until the heavy rain started and I had to walk off.

Looks like the weather for me is gonna be terrible for the next 7-10 days, so time to work at the range on yardages.

Couple of thoughts:

- E6 connect is £400/year subscription.
- Can't see how it's any different to an R10 for a golf simulators, besides the swing analysis and multiplayer.

I love golf mostly because of being outdoors, nature, birds, squirrels and the fitness. The course I'm a member at is VERY hilly. Along side how it feels to do all that together and have fun and compete against yourself.

When I play my R10 in the garage, it's a fun for 30 minutes for 18 holes, but it doesn't really translate to the golf course, since all lays are perfect and you don't get that high skill ceiling aspect of it, it's pretty boring IMO. It'll be great for bad weather, like what we're having now, but other than that - not that impressive to me.

I did wonder about E6, the video never implies you have to pay for the sub. I wondered if its included.

On closer inspection you get 9 free courses with the Phigolf software and one free course without sub for e6

One course isn't brilliant, but could do a job no doubt.
Lets hope the Phigolf app is pretty good with the 9 free courses it comes with.

What a win for Schefeller that was a great tournament to watch..

Two Ace on 16 was amazing to watch live.

Wild scenes indeed - split a lot of people in terms of the beers/carnage etc - Some saying - a bit of fun, one hole a year where madness happens - Others saying distasteful, pathetic, not part of the game etc.

Enjoyable all the same

If it stays at Pheonix 16 then what the hell, but I fear the worriers believe it will be a trend that makes it way into other tournaments. Like Vuvuzulas we didn't mind at African WC but that quickly got shutdown at other tournaments

Question for you guys.

Looking to setup a Golf Society which is to be centred at the hospital I work at.
We're looking to advertise on our internal internet (which is easy to do) but I have questions with regard to setting one up.
What senior members do we need (chairman, treasurer etc) and also is there normally a monthly subscription etc.

I don't know much about golf societies so a little help and insight would be appreciated.
