CT6 Trolley is here - solid piece of kit, very quick to setup/fold etc and nice and small when folded. Impressed.

Might take it a run out tomorrow for a test... Bit muddy but hey ho.

Anyone used a Garmin r10 launch monitor? Seems good value for the money.

yeah I have one but not used it that much - planning to change that over Xmas time.

I know my numbers fairly well and it seems to be very accurate against £20k Trackman etc - tons of detail/infomation etc.....

Went to Celtic Manor today.
Course was closed when we arrived, totally fogged out, as it's fairly high up a mountain.
9 of us played the top tracer for about an hour, with no movement on the fog.
Decided to pay to upgrade and get on the Ryder Cup 2010 course instead, which was £55 total each.

No fog, but conditions were terrible. Very wet and it was freezing, with icey winds. I had 4 layers on (including my under armour that I use for snowboarding) and was still shivering.
Course didn't really hold up that well, boggy areas and some of the bunkers were a bit compacted, not that you can complain with all the rain we've had lately.
The biggest problem for me all day, was I couldn't feel my fingers in 3'C and it didn't get any warmer all day. Think it took us 5 hours to get around. Didn't shoot as bad as I thought I had, played generally OK. Shot a total of 95, with loads of terrible shots in there. Any other day I reckon I could have shaved 7-8 shots off my game, if I was able to feel my fingers. My drives were terrible, all down the middle, but my yardage had dropped considerably on all clubs, I put this all down to the icey hands.
The course has really long par 4s, so had to lay up on almost all of them.
They have a lot of very similar par3s, all but one was 170-180 yards and I par'd all of them, which was decent, lost the closest to the pin challenge by about a foot.:o
Glad to be home to find out I still have all my fingers.

Shame the Montgomery was closed but the fog is a bitch lately.
Shame the course wasn't brilliant for you. That's winter golf though.

Defo worth a trip back in the summer as all three courses play amazingly well.
We always go for August Bank Holiday weekend. The Welsh open is played the week before so the 2010 plays amazing

Went to American Golf earlier to discuss my visual issues with my Hybrids. They too were in agreement they look the wrong way round at address but without checking them on a proper lie machine we can't tell.

Comparing them to the ones in store there was a clear difference so will be surprised if they come out ok

The lady there suggested I switched out the 3 Hybrid for a 5 wood. Decent off the tee and the deck. Tempted TBH as if my 3 Hybrid is wrong I will get a full refund

Nice man, gotta be happy with that.

What type of bag do you use? I used to have to lug a tour bag around until I wised up and brought a nice pencil one. So much lighter and for the price I paid I'm not too bothered about chucking it about.
Bag is the one that came with the package set of clubs I got 25 years ago :p Bigger than your typical stand back but not as posh or heavy as the tour bags used by the pros.

7 wood has been a great addition for me to the bag - lovely high flight but still very long.

Another game today, played Friday too and that was a bit meh, ok but the 'hard' course and it was pretty boggy in points as well. Today was the 'easier' course, far less boggy and a good day out really :p

Scored 'ok', the new guy who was on his 5th game had a great game hitting his first ever par and then his second par on the final hole to finish 3 shots ahead of me which was kinda irritating

Think I've mostly removed the slice from my driver now after some time on the range, the hybrid is still a mess though...

Played my first round in about 6 months today at a new course and was pleasantly surprised when I counted my scores at the end that I managed to equal my best ever score of 92! Just above freezing, rain, wind, and a pretty sodden underfoot made me think the game was a bogey straight from the start and I was just out for a frustrating walk but played some of my best golf. Had quite a few avoidable errors today so could have easily broken 90 and maybe even hit mid 80's. Highlight of the round was somehow smoking a 5 iron around 250 yards when I normally average between 200-220 with it. Never even used my driver either - it's normally a score-buster when I use it. I normally finish last in our usual 4-ball but finished 2nd today.

Walked off the course on Ssturday for what will hopefully be the first and last time. Had an absolute shocker, easily the worst I've played since I started up again.

Tbh I shouldn't have gone. Been practicing a few swing changes during the week and couldn't yet trust them on the course. I certainly shouldn't have gone with the view of playing a full round.

Not got to the point of walking off, yet, but know what you mean. Especially with changing the swing and then trying to play a round, can be incredibly frustrating. Next time will be better though :)

No better place to imprint those swing changes though!
Personally, I would have stuck it out and used the course as your personal driving range, obviously if it was dreadful conditions then I can totally understand it.
I tend to play my Saturday comp game as a place to test out new things, seeing as I play both Sat and Sun morning.

To many swing thoughts though, just had nothing to trust when I was standing over the ball. Plus, I got very close to dashing my sand wedge out of bounds

Played with Magic a few weeks ago and though it wasn't my best i had fun. Saturday I was just there because it was convenient and felt I couldn't go a whole week without being on a course. Silly really, I should have just gone the range and tried to embed the swing technique a little more.

Almost had a great game today, almost...

First 8 holes were good, weather was lovely, running a bit tight on time so no practice I expected the start to be awful but actually it was 'ok', got 8 on the first (tricky/long par 5) but then I was under 8 which I cap to from the 2nd till the 8th, even par on the 7th, all good it seems. Hybrid was working great, driver which had been great on Sunday was 'meh' to say the least going left constantly but still picked it for the 9th.

This time it went right out of bounds and losing my first ball of the round! No great problem, but after taking the drop/shot I had to cross a ditch/stream and as soon as I stepped on the bridge my foot slipped out from under me, I smashed my shin into the bridge and down I went, thankfully not into the water but the bag did go in :(

Everything seems fine really, bag is by a radiator drying off, had a jacket in there so chucking that in the laundry, couple of other bits but should all be good after it's dried out.

My shin is already bruising up, it's gonna be a good 'un :p

Did finish off the 9th eventually, wasn't great, actually pretty terrible, but capping to 8 as I usually do (it was 11! on a par 5) gives me a 55 overall which is lower than I've hit for a while.

Hey guys, just wondering..

what’s your "go to" shop for clubs, balls etc..? I popped into American Golf near me today, and I was not impressed, not just the prices but the selection of equipment seemed a little on the short side.

I use a bunch of online shops really, Affordable Golf, Online Golf (actually a subsidiary of American Golf I believe), Clubhouse Golf etc. Also actually Sports Direct, that's where I get my balls recently, Srixon Soft Feel at 24 for £35

I've heard 'mixed' things about American Golf for fitting, and in general, but the one near me (Bristol) seems to have a decent range in store and when I was looking at shoes the guy was really helpful and not at all pushy, but I think the issue is really that it varies so very much...

Balls - Various Facebook groups i get them from - happy to recommend a few - They are near pearl quality and hardly tell the difference from new balls. Good value as well. I'm very fussy about golf balls so they need to be mint quality.

Clothes - Again - a guy near me does loads of Under Armour/Adidas stuff - trousers/tops etc - I use him mainly and my local pro for clothes.

Otherwise - gloves and stuff - online - whoever is the cheapest. Hotgolf/Scottsdale etc are good.

I did buy my irons from Affordable Golf (very similar to American Golf) after an excellent fitting with them - very happy.

Otherwise - 2nd hand clubs - ebay or again - local facebook golf groups etc - Have a look online in the local area on facebook - loads of pro's use them to reach more people etc.
