Played this morning, first round under my new membership. Sadly not a lot to write home about, the highlight was closing out with three consecutive bogeys
Unfortunately the driving range doesn't open until 9am and my tee time was 10 minutes past. They could do with some nets so at least you could get a few swings in to warm up. As it was I decided to be very selective with my use of the driver to try and stay out of trouble and not lose so many balls. Opening hole on the Tower course is a short par three. A slightly shaky swing but my 9i found the safety of the green, only to three put for bogey (to be far I was a fair distance from the pin). Second I played safe of the tee with my 6i and made bogey. The another par three this time over water. For the second round in a row I chunked by 7i into the drink! Came away with a seven. Forth I again played safe off the tee only to leek my tee shot right into a big bush. Thankfully I found my ball but had to take a drop, another seven.
Then the fifth, the yellow and white tees are set back behind a pond. I was weighing up whether to take my first drive of the round, kicking myself for deciding yes. Topped the first one into the pond, reloaded and it was like an action replay. Very annoyed at losing two balls in this fashion when I should have stuck to my game plan. Came away with a ten. Rest of the front nine bar the ninth wasn't too bad. Out in 56 which could have been 50 were it not for the three balls I lost into the water.
Back nine at least I didn't lose any more balls
Hit a few terrible drives on the safest holes including another one which I topped. Puts you so much on the back foot when you can't get a decent tee shot away. Hopefully my on course lesson will reveal where I am going wrong. Came back in 57 for a 42 over par 113! Giving
@SKILL some competition for the worst golfer on this thread
Playing again on Sunday, hope springs eternal.
