I’m going to see a coach to help me hit the ball more consistently, and try to hit the ball a bit further. Kind of lost my confidence a bit.
Yesterday, I was at the range, ok, I was hitting the ball much flusher, but without gaining any yardage, or so it seemed.

How far can you guys hit a 3 wood, tee to first bounce? It wasn’t easy to judge, but I think I’m hitting 150 - 160 yards.

Rather than trying to judge on a range (which also often use kinda terrible balls that reduce distance) get yourself on a launch monitor either at a range or in a simulator/shop...

But, saying that, for reference I hit my 5 wood, in a simulator during a gapping session, with a 172 yard carry. That was at the end so kinda tired/ready to stop by then so I kinda feel like a few more yards may be more realistic.

I use a Rapsodo MLM2 Pro launch monitor, and it is a fantastic bit of kit, but..

im having issues with yardage, I contacted Rapsodo today about the unit, and I must say, there CS is top notch. Anyways.. Apparently the data all stacks up, and its me thats the issue, but..I dont know, I said I would monitor it through the weekend, and I will be taking to my lesson on Monday to see what the pro says..

At first I thought it was my "fake" RPT balls, but no, I tried the official Callaway balls, and the same result? :(

But overall they are great, I have been using my "make-shift" outside garage setup so when I strike the ball I know where im hitting it, its just..I dont the the yardages are as should be?

They all read the same, so the consistency is there, its just im losing (i think ) around 10-15 yards or average.

Friday golf time, nice and chill this week in a 3 ball, group ahead was a little slow but not too bad, group behind was even slower still so no pressure and just good weather and good vibes, gotta love a round like that :)

Felt like I didn't play amazingly well really, scored 106 but that's with 2 pickups (which became 8's) and an 8, the other 15 holes weren't bad at all :p

Some absolutely stunning shots frankly, two PW's on the 1st and 13th hole from ~100 yards to within 8ft of the hole, so good. 2-putted both of them obviously... Birdied the 16th, again, par 5 that definitely seems eminently birdie-able, pretty short dog leg left, I pushed my 5w 2nd shot a bit right otherwise it would've been on the green in two, chipped to reasonably close and thankfully got a read off another putt, he thought it was left-to-right, I thought it was left-to-right, but it was right-to-left it seems, no way I was getting that putt without the read :p

Looking at getting some waterproof trousers , don’t want to spend over £50 if possible because I’m looking to get some waterproof shoes too. Anyone have any suggestions? I went to the local American Golf store, but they didn’t have a lot of choices and the cheapest were £60
I have had most brands and the best at keeping water out are Skechers.

Scored my first 10 on a hole yesterday, 3 off the tee and then just a long slog up the 18th par 5, I was shattered.
Was 26 over in the end, 3 over handicap so not too bad considering the awful 10. Also hit a 272 yard drive

Man I’ve been on a golfing roller coaster, played well through winter had shanks for the last 7 weeks just got back from La Cala Spain playing and had 2 good rounds out of 3 then come back home and just shot a 77 my best score on a Par 67.

well, im confused, I went to my driving range for the first time with my MLM2 Pro, and the yardages (even with the crappy balls) were averaging around 15-20 longer than in my net.

something is off, so will need to work out what is causing the yardage problem at home!

Played this afternoon, very much a practice round as my Taylor made app refused to function! Tested briefly, before losing them, some TM Tour Response balls I'd had for a while. Hit a belter of a drive on the 2nd, carried the bunker I'm normally level with. Makes you wonder...

Hired a buggy as been nursing a sore left calf for a few weeks. Definitely seem to strike the ball better when I'm not walking. Too expensive to do regularly, costs almost as much in credits then a round on Sat/Sun morning.

Played another course today I haven’t played on before, Southport Old Golf Links, Municipal. Fairways were very forgiving with their width, they needed to be with the wind that was blowing.
Hooked my tee shot off the first, had to take a drop, so not the best of starts. Wedge play around the greens was my saving grace which allowed me to hit only a handful of 3 putts. Had two wedge shots stop within 4 feet of the hole only to miss the putts for pars.
Considering it was my first time playing there, and the wind, I was more than happy with a score of 106, my best so far since taking up golf again.

Played again as usual today, bit of a quiet one with only 3 of us but the course was pretty busy, especially at the start there was a lot of waiting.

Played ok I think, not a particularly great score but not terrible for me, just the usual inconsistency. Also at least 3 times one of the guys said 'nice putt' before it went in only for it to lip out, cursed I tells ya :p

It's kinda got to a really infuriating stage where I broke 100 once like 2+ months ago now and just not managed it again, it's not like I'm getting close and falling apart that happened a few times before I broke it the first time I'm just not quite hooking up a full round, I know I can do it but yeah... Feels like I should be breaking 100 regularly already :p

Splurged on a load (100+) of new balls earlier

Was running low on my super cheap Slazanger's. Think I may have become a bit blasè with them and thus losing more than I should. Looking around saw Golfbidder had some good deals going in combination with 10% off per three dozen ordered.

Went for the TaylorMade Soft Response which worked out to £1.41 per ball including delivery. In line with what I'd previously paid for their Distance+ ball or Wilson DuoSoft. DuoSoft was the only previous ball I played where I managed to keep one in play for 18 holes so hoping that's a good omen as both are low compression balls. Hoping for more stopping power (spin) with my mid irons and wedges.

Edit: Golfbidder didn't have as many in stock as the website was showing. Means I have 2x dozen less coming but they've kept the extra 10% discount for me on the odd dozen. Pushed the cost per ball up another 2p!

Another round of 89 yesterday which should have been lower but another PB on that course. Few shaky putts and some awful 5/6 irons lost me about 7 or 8 shots over the round. Last 3 rounds have all been personal bests so once I get my irons sorted out (again) I'm hoping to see the score tumble.

Highlight of the round was a 4-ball that were playing off the medals (who absolutely shouldn't have been as they were taking forever) who let us play through them when they were about half-way through the 5th. They stood off to the side when we were teeing off and I couldn't have hit a better drive that sailed about 290ish yards and stopped at the bottom of the slope going up to the green, which was followed by my mate hurling abuse at me! :D My mate tees off and has an absolute howler in front of these guys and the group behind us, he wasn't best pleased!

Hoping to get a round squeezed in at Dumbarnie in October before the end of the season as well as a hickory round at Kingarrock.

Also get a cracking deal on the Kittocks and Torrance courses in St Andrews.

£160 for a 4-ball at either course when it's normally £130 per person. Crail courses one day then the two St Andrews ones another day! :D

It's been a while but when is the OcUK Crail (+ St Andrews?) meetup happening? :p

It's kinda weird, a few weeks ago I was on a family holiday and could've played Tenby Golf Course but just wasn't feeling it so didn't play anything, now I'm in a definite "must play golf" mindset. It's not even like I'm actually playing well...

Had a quick hit with a mates Mizuno STZ-230 Hybrid last week. Lovely club, easy to hit, great feels.

Was looking for the final piece in the bag between 7 wood and 5 iron.

Someone selling a 4 hybrid in the above on facebook - snagged it from him (PGA Pro seller - changing the grip for me before sending etc) - should be here tomorrow.

7 wood (20 degrees) is around 220 for me

5 iron average is 195 (24 degrees)

The 4 hybrid is 22 with adjustable 2 degrees either way so looking for it to slot in between 5 iron and 7 wood.

My #4 hybrid is mizuno from about 6 years ago and it ain't leaving my bag! Hope it works well for you

Talking about balls I just got back from a quick 9 holes and thought to start with I'd use some of my very crappy lake balls I've picked up along the way... That was a bit odd :p for the most part it wasn't so bad but some shots just seemed a little 'odd', ended up around half way around switching back to an AD333. Then proceeded to lose it

Game was very meh today, ate quite a big lunch beforehand and that along with the heat kicked in on the 3rd tee, feeling very meh right now. Pretty sure all my shots were either shanks, way 'heavy' and about half the distance they should be or absolutely stunning shots, there was no meh shots today :p

The stunning shots though, wow, within 100 yards I was incredible, on the green every time and twice within like 4ft for a 1 putt. Been 'forcing' myself recently to use full wedges rather than half-shots with my 52 degree, so 50 yards away is a 56-degree at maybe 95% rather than like a 60% 52 if that makes sense. Definitely seems to be working nicely :)
