@booyaka when I best hit the G430 LST 3W, I couldn’t man math my way out of almost £485
Offttt... Upgrade stock shaft are expensive for sure....

I ordered mine last night - titlest confirmed should have it by next Friday. Will be very happy if that's the case.

Sold my X5 Shotscope watch - just don't use it these days, prefer range finder. So that made me order the 3w.

Unfortunately I've got myself a contract so can't do the normal Friday golf but did manage to finish early and get out for the roll-up at least...

Mixed game really, started off a bit slow, probably in part because of zero warm up but I par'd 4-6 for a nice streak and then tailed off a bit after that. My putting was pretty shocking annoyingly, just weak and pathetically short over and over again.

After what felt like a very long week of work, wasn't that long but not used to it recently, it was nice to get out though :)

Got a society game at Cumberwell Park booked for Sunday and Stockwood Vale for Monday, good times :D

Forecast tomorrow morning is not looking good. Guess which idiot signed up to the weekly roll up, TBF it didn't look quite as bad when I put my name down. Full water proofs in order!

Any recommendations for a rain glove? Might have to see what the pro shop have in stock as last time I played in heavy rain I found it next to impossible to keep a grip of my clubs.

Pro shop came through with a pair of TaylorMade rain gloves, a life saver today although not sure on the quality. Just rinsed them out and there is some peeling at the edge of the velcro strap.

It rained steadily throughout and despite a couple of bad shot choices on my par I managed to rack up 33pts playing off 16. This included three scratches, two on the front nine one on the back nine where I scored 21pts!

Looks like it should be good enough for 3rd so a little prize money coming my way. Won't be much as not many out this morning. Will also be a further cut to my handicap although that may only be temporary depending on how I play tomorrow.

Edit: wedges were on point today. The number of times I put it inside 4ft from 115y and in was crazy  :D

Didnt play well yesterday - a bit all over the show. Just poor ball striking all day, lacking in concentration.

However - I did get very invested in my mates game - he was playing well but does tend to "blow up" and has a temper on him at times. Just chatted to him all the way round, keep him focused, he hit the ball so well as he played within himself. He does have a tendency to overswing/ try and really hammer everything.

He shot a great 75 scratch to get another cut from 5 to 4.5 his lowest ever. It was so easy for him yesterday - no drama, boring golf. Really chuffed for him.

I'm up from 5.8 three weeks ago to 7.0 now!!! Nothing wild but just good rounds dropping off my last 20 etc.

Just back from our round and the wind was absolutely wild. Didn't score well at all but there was nothing I could do because of the weather.

Full 48 degree wedge normally goes around 125-130 yards but had one into the wind today that must have went about 70 yards, if that. Actually seen the ball starting to come back to me...

Struggled to even keep my balance standing over putts it was that bad!

^ yeah, was a bit breezy my way as well. Hit a 6i into a short par three (and took closest to the pin) where I'm normally hitting 9i.

Unfortunately undone by my front nine (50) this morning despite a solid start. Didn't really find my swing until the back (41). Still, round will be good enough to be a counter. That will be eight of my last eleven rounds counting so I've obviously been playing solid. Should be down to 17.4 come tomorrow!

Society game again today, after last weeks win I got cut 4 shots! (they keep their own handicap) And today was at Cumberwell Park which is easily harder than the 'home' games at Shrivenham so wasn't really expecting much...

Played solidly though, 2 blobs but some very good holes too for 39 points, second best was 35 points, so in for another cut I guess

Pretty much seals up the overall win I think, going into today my lowest 2 scores were 32 and 34, only the best 8 for the year count, so now my lowest is a 34 then 5x 38, 39 and 43 :D

I want a 7w so bad given my fav club by far my 5w. Off the deck, tee’d up, first cut. Does it all.

In the new year I'm likely to look at the top end of my bag, love my 5w as well but kinda want to try a 'heavenwood', basically a 7w head with a shaft length between 3w and 5w...

Actually thinking the other day, especially given my iron distances have increased a bunch, that I may drop the hybrid (never liked the looks) and go for all the woods :p Just prefer the way fairway woods look/sit, but what that would end up looking like I'm not sure, maybe 4w, heavenwood and maybe even 9w perhaps!

There's a 240 yard par 3 at one of the courses I play, it's a very tight fairway and no room for error at all - I've always laid up in the past but went for it today with my 5 wood and just kept it on the back edge of the green (it slopes down towards the green as well) - was happy with that. Found myself hitting my 5 wood a lot today as it just seems to work well enough and even the dodgy hits with it tend to not go too far left or right. I've not hit my driver in weeks on a course.

Out for a round at Stockwood Vale today, scene of my first ever round of golf and one I enjoy but haven't played all that much, today was my 6th round and hadn't broken 100 in the previous 5...

Broke 100 today \o/ :p

Played really solidly overall. Didn't mention yesterday but my driver yesterday wasn't playing ball, took it today thinking I'd use it on an open/safe hole but my 3w was working so well I just stuck with that.

Also with putting I recently found a Srixon Divide and gave it a go, previously I'd deliberately not lined the ball up for putts but now I do and there's something rather nice about seeing that divide ball rolling end over end. Today I bought a dozen in the pro shop and putting was really quite solid, 31 putts total but I did have a chip-in par so 'only' 17 holes of actual putting, still decent though.

The result was a 90 adjusted down to 89, way better than my previous best of 105, also a stroke differential of 20.5 so my handicap should drop a bit :D

Yesterday was a round of 2 halves :p

New course for me, Crews Hill in Enfield. 2 over on the front 9  - then only made a single par on the back 9, for a combined 82! That illusive sub-80 round is coming..

Managed to bag a spot at a TaylorMade fitting event my club is hosting. In the past they've always gone before I knew about them and even though they'd said in advance to keep a look out on their socials for this one I still must have missed the initial announcement. Figured it can't hurt to have a look. Put down irons as my preference as to what I was interested in being fit for. My current set are four years old and I did a lot of hitting off matts at the driving range before I ever stepped back out on the course. I imagine the loft and lie angles may have changed a bit in that time, not to mention my swing.

Handicap down to 22.9 \o/ My next score to drop off is a counting one though, so that'll go on Friday at the roll-up. No pressure.

Played yesterday morning, kinda nice now the sunrise is getting later the 7am starts feels more like morning, dew on the ground etc I like it :) Played ok, I like trying stuff so I forced myself to use the 60-degree for everything it could basically to get more confidence in it, did thin it a few times and feel like if I'd used my trusty 54 I would've been fine but that's what solo rounds are for :p

On a different note just checked the FB page for one of my clubs and they've got a new handicap secretary it seems, and it's someone I 'know', and they cheat, a lot. Dunno if I find that hilarious or shocking...
