Going down a new route. I was in American Golf yesterday, talking to the manager (we get a good gibber a lot), and I tried a club in hand, as i normally do:p and it was a much thicker grip on it, and felt so comfortable and "natural"..

So I asked the manager cost on sprucing up my 13 clubs for them, £180  and now, as i might be going Mizuno 925 forged next year, i didnt want to spend so much, so, I had some Amazon credit and came across these..https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011297T60?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

And £2 per club, so all in about £120 (minus around 80 pound amazon credit)..

As my miss now is way, way left, the thicker grip should help, plus im 6'2 and the thiner grips arent doing many favours I think...but will see..

I was considering a cheaper option, but quality of the grips is quite important, and I was fluxuating between Golf Pride and Lamkin ones..so, will see how they go, if I think they are too big upon arrival I will go "midsize" rather than "midsize / jumbo".

just hope those 2015 grips are the model and haven't been sitting around since 2015....

Just be careful with "jumbo" grips - they aren't a cure for "the lefts" and can cause many other issues.

I personally would try them on a single club - see how you get on with that first.

I'm 6ft3" and use standard size grips but with 3 layers of tape on them.... Couldn't get on with midsize, let alone jumbo....

thanks @booyaka will wait and see what i think of them when i get them before i deceide to put them all on the clubs..
I've got these on all my irons with 3 wraps of tape and they fit my hand perfectly. Using the chart that booyaka posted, I should be using jumbo!

Not bothered about my driver and 3 wood yet but it might be worth doing to see if it makes a difference...

Yeah, well they are out for delivery today so I will see how they look / feel before they get committed to the clubs.

well,i received the grips today, must say at first I thought "they look similar sizes?" but, upon reflection, I have not considered the thickness of the shaft expanding them out, so they will be a perfect fit as they are under one size of "jumbo".

I phoned American Golf today, and am dropping off the clubs + grips tomorrow and hopefully have them back by the weekend!

thinking of mabye adding a driving iron into my setup...I currently have driver, 3 wood, 4 hybrid, 5-aw and three wedges..

would it be worth swapping out for one? anyone use one? what do you think of it if so?

How good are you at hitting long irons? Distance and consistency. That should be your main consideration.

Look at a 7w.

im not bad, i was just looking to mabye open up a new avenue, rather than take a 5/6 iron off the tee, or driver, get that middle ground with a utility iron..

My problem is my 5 iron doesnt have quite the same gapping against the 6 iron, like i do the rest of the bag..

im down in west lothian on saturday, i am returning a cart bag back to GolfClubs4Cash, so will see if i can get credit and pay the £20-£30 difference as they have a few Cobra UI instock atm..

I picked up a Srixon 2i for the lols when I went on trip playing some links courses, when hit well it does what it says on the tin, low penetrating ball flight and lots of runout, great. But to hit it well takes a lot, for me at least! I bought it in March and my striking has come on leaps and bounds but it's still tricky.

You mention the 5i/6i gapping, I think I get similar and I think it's largely down to the strike quality/the 5i being harder to hit well than the 6i, if that's the case then going to a 2/3/4i even a driving iron probably isn't gonna help :p

As mentioned 7w is the answer! Got one recently and it's so good, easy to hit and especially for winter golf (unless you play on links) it flies for miles... Right now for carrying I've ditched my 3w/5w/5i/6i completely so it goes Driver -> 7w -> 7i

Don't mean this in a bad way... But settle on your clubs/bag setup and stay with it. You seem to be chopping and changing stuff all the time.

Constantly chopping and changing clubs / grips / irons / woods etc won't help your consistency.

Is there a large "gap" in your yardages between all your clubs - if so consider how you fill that gap..... What club will do the job.

Otherwise - stick with what you have.

The only reason I have a 3 iron in rotation is that during the summer months on the west of scotland - 7w is no use on dry/links courses.... So I swap 3 iron in / 7 wood out.... But most of the rest of the time 7w fills the gap I need.

good points mate, thank you.

i dropped my clubs off today for the regripping..i have decided to try the utility iron, time i get my bag im taking back discounted, it will end up costing me around £20-£25..

after that i wil do what you advise..and stick with what i have.

I put a 2 iron in the bag this year and it's really good off the tee, a bit hard to hit off the ground but wow do they go. Also wow do they hurt if you catch them wrong :D

what club did you replace it for then? im thinking 5 iron?? yeah, I am only looking for off the tee, not really wanting to use it off the ground.

I replaced my hybrid as I just wasn't using it. Current set up is:

D 3W 2i 4i-9i PW 50 54 58

I'm getting some new irons in the new year so I'll need to look at the gapping a little bit as I think the gap from my PW (43.5) to 50 is already quite big.

awesome. thanks. I will look into it, I was thinking either my 5 iron or the 3* hybrid..

will see how I get on at the range once my grips are back on the clubs.

Monthly medal this morning. A few of us ventured out before deciding that golf in 50mph gusts just wasn't happening. I guess my trolley blowing over before I'd even teed off was a sign. Came in after six holes. Just as well as the rain had picked up by the time we got back to the clubhouse.

Looks equally crap tomorrow morning so no golf for me this weekend :( Was surprised they even let us out there, although the Cathedral course is fairly open, as a few larger branches had come down in the car park for the driving range, par 3 & adventure golf.

Managed to get out and did a scramble between our groups today as it wasn't amazing. Somehow didn't get wet, wind picked up towards the end but looking at tomorrows forecast that's all she wrote this weekend.
