Golf Thread

hey guys, went into GolfClubs4Cash today, and ended doing a swap outright, so was hassle free. There is a "fairly" big stone chip of some sort, it looks worse in the photo, so i took it..but the more i think about it, its at the impact point, right in the heel of the club.

do i return it for a different one? or should I seek advice from American Golf when I go to collect my clubs (hopefully tomorrow I get the call). And see what they think??

Quick photo.

So I've done a thing.

As mentioned the other day the one club I regret selling was my LTDx LS driver.
So I have found a mint one off GolfClubs4Cash. 9deg head with x-stiff shaft which matched what I had.
Delivered today so up the range I went to use the QC Launch monitors at Hagley.

Now my driver swing hasn't been great as lost confidence with my TSR but once I got into the grove results were as follows.

TSR:
Carry 246av. Total 257av. Ball Speed 142mph av. Spin 2880av.

LTDx:
Carry 258av. Total 276av. Ball Speed 145.9av. Spin 2180av

With a decent hit I managed to carry 270+ with the Cobra. My TSR gets no where near that

Now I need to mess with loft settings etc but this was all in standard form but instantly confidence and feel just oozed through.
So undecided what to do until I actually go out on the course and try it but my regret of selling it originally was right

Tweaking the TSR to get the spin down a bit and you'll find there's very little in them....

Spin number on the LTDx looks good - anything around the 2200/2300/2400 is ideal with driver.... The 2800/2900 with TSR basically means it's spinning up a little too much and hence the shorter carry...

But if it's a confidence thing and you can't tweak the TSR to get the spin down a bit, then go with with suits you best...And what feels best...

Well, went to collect my set that were regripped, the good news is they feel lovely and more confidence inspiring now..

The bad news is, they said that I shouldnt accept the driving iron in the condition its in, so sending that back and will hold get a refund, sticking with my hybrid / 5 iron for now.

yeah I have tweaked my driver several times but it's started to not suit me anymore. I have got a couple lessons which my GF has got for myself so will see what happens after this as it's done on trackman.

But out of Curiosity I contacted Golfclubs4cash for a quote on my TSR3 complete with Velocore Blue Stiff shaft and they offered me £240

Just did a solo round and for a couple of reasons I decided to just use a 7 Iron, and after the first green a putter too :p

Actually did really quite well, did it once before ages ago, at the time because my iron striking was terrible but I found it interesting having to be a bit creative with the shots but don't think I scored all that well, today I shot 43 so +8 which is about to my handicap iirc

Last week I did a few solo rounds and shot 45-47 using a full (-ish) bag of clubs so to do better today with just 2 clubs is amusing, think it shows the value in actually being focussed on the game rather than just going through the motions.

Worst hole I think was the 8th, although partially because I tried something I haven't really got in the bag. Sharp dogleg left par 4 where usually I take an 8 iron max, often just a 7 iron, and try to draw it a bit around the corner. Today I tried to hit a massive hook and although it turned a bit it just went too far forwards and not far enough left so ran out of fairway and into the rough. Still got a 6 so not terrible really.

Cut my winter carry to down to 6 clubs:

Driver
7w
7i
PW
SW
Putter

So much better for carrying and relaxed playing.
Out of interest what clubs did you take out - trying to work out your gapping on those choices :D

I did manage to win my courses 3 club challenge last year which they do each boxing day but for the life of me I can't remember which clubs I chose, I'm pretty sure it was Driver, Putter and and Iron, luckily I avoided sand I remember that.

Driver silly season is about to start, the new Cobra ones are being reviewed as of today. That'll be a few hours of watching and seeing how they perform.

Took out
5w
5H
8,9, gap wedge

I based it clubs that I use the most on the course and can adjust distances as needed.
