Had a good hour or so at the range today and have made a lot of really great changes to my swing. By the time I left I was pretty much ripping every club almost arrow straight - well pleased :)

However, no doubt as soon as I hit the course they'll start spraying all over the shop :D

You need to change the way you think about golf on the course :-)

Golf is one of the only games where you start with a score and the idea is not to throw it away.
We can all hit great shots but the the pros make less mistakes. They do not swing themselves out of their shoes and they always stay in balance.

Next time you play golf try to turn the game around and play each hole as a Handicap par. For example if you get 2 shots on a Par 5 then that's a Handicap Par 7. If you aim to score 7 at the worst you will be pleasantly surprised how easy that is and how many time you manage to make it in 6 or even 5 shots just by changing the way you think about the way you play the hole.

Also 1 other piece of advice remember your out there to ENJOY yourself your paying for the privilege of playing so get as much FUN out of it as possible.

Some good advice there, and don't get me wrong I DO enjoy the craic when I play golf with my friends, but I do become disheartened by my clumsy shots.
Spent an hour on the range today and I saw a great deal of improvement, I just hope I can do the same on the golf course.

What did you change out of interest?

At the moment I'm finding the only thing worth changing is my levels of concentration. Let that slip and invariably I'll hit a **** golf shot.

Morning golf = lots of coffee

Well supposed to have been playing 2 round of golf this weekend with the new Burner 2.0 driver.

The wife decided to change that for me by taking a tumble last night from a pair of shoes! (yes a pair of shoes!) and ending up in A&E with a dislocated & fractured ankle and fractured tibia!! That's the golf down the pan for a while - i'll be on kids duty and work for the forseeable future!!

New driver has still got the cellophane on it!!

I found I had gotten a little ragged on my last 2 rounds, especially with the longer clubs. I was firing the ball all over the damn place - pushes, pulls, some fat shots and some bladed shots.

I think my main problem was my stance had got a little too wide (thanks to some dodgy pointers given by playing partners ), causing me to have to try and correct things on the downswing.

I also think that because of this and the raggedness, I had got a little bit rigid in the knees trying to gain some consistency.

So, my main changes were a little more flex in the knees and a slightly narrower stance and just like magic I was striking the ball great again. :)

I have also tried to add a little more width to my backswing (on the takeaway) with the longer clubs, which really seems to have helped a lot.

I now feel that I can push nicely through the ball and everything seems to be connected, whereas before I felt I had to fish a little bit to get a decent strike.

Time will tell if it makes things more consistent, but I was really pleased with the progress made. Just have to keep practising to try and develop the muscle memory now.

Had a mare myself on the course today score 11 Points on the front 9 with 4 Blobs :-(

Decided not to bother playing the back nine and went on the practise range instead. My Pro came over and watched me hit about a dozen balls then told me I wasnt clearing my hips through the shot.

I made an more of an effort to start the downswing from the ground up and hey presto striking the ball absolutely beautiful again. It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to drop into bad habits with this game but thankfully a good PGA Pro can get us back on the straight and narrow again.

Funny ole game golf after nine holes this morning I was ready to give the game up but now I cant wait to get out play again tomorrow.

:)

I have the superfast 2.0 myself, fantastic driver, offcentre hits go nowhere but out of the middle gives quite a few extra yards over say the G15 (tested myslf before changing over). Shot 76 today for a +5 gross and another little cut down to 7.2, good times!

Played friday. Didnt think it was going to come to much as started the round with a top! Haha. Picked myself up to shoot 10 over on the front 9, not very impressed. Turned it round to shoot only 3 over on the back 9. Well impressed, main problem is getting off the tee at the moment, but on the back 9 just relaxed and rather than trying to hit the ball i just 'swung' the club. On a downhill par 4 i hit one out of the screws, even my playing partner was impressed with it, walked down the hill thinking i couldnt see my ball on the fairway pretty dissapointed, only to find it in the middle of the green! The card reads 371yds, but a bit of google earth puts it more like 350. :D Dont hit many of those!!

:)

Well after a frustrating day on the course yesterday, today I shot 74 and got 39 points. Walked away with 2nd place and a nearest the pin prize.

As I said its a funny ole game

I had a storming 9 holes at my regular course last week - 3, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3 (then the inevitable happened..), 6, 4, 5. 35 all in all, pretty pleased with that. Under 40 was my aim last year, 35 was the target this year so I've reached that. 32 is the next aim :)

Really need to find someone decent to play with (my mate's best is 58, really drags my game down watching that) on longer courses too.

Not managed to play this week due to a mixture of bad weather and other stuff. Can't wait to get back out there.

Has anybody had experience of playing golf as part of a University team? I'm off to Manchester Uni very soon and I'm hoping to get into the golf scene there (if there is one).

I've just bought the black/white Adidas ATV shoes, same as the orange ones you're on about just different colour (they do white & orange, White & black, Black only). I tried the Adipure Z's but they just werent anywhere near as comfy as the ATV's, which i thought were even comfier than my Adipure 360's!

Hi everyone,

Having recently gotten back into golf after around 5 years off, I have been working on my swing. Previously, I had a lot of problems with pulling every shot to the left with my irons, and slicing my driver like mad. I took a lesson last week and the pro picked up on 3 things: My posture wasn't great (very slumped, not athletic), my back swing and subsequent transition were a bit too rushed, and I was coming over the top of the ball a bit. He got me using a spare club on the ground at around a 45 degree angle to the target line as a mental plane to swing for, and this has helped no end with the pulls and slices. Still a long way to go though!

Anyway, I have made a quick composite video clip of 3 shots I hit at the range earlier today, and after each full speed swing, I have added a slow motion replay. I *think* I can see my coming over the top still slightly, but not entirely sure. Each of these shots went around 150 yards within a few metres to the left of my target line but all started out a little right with a slight draw bringing them back to target (perfect so I'm told!)

Anyway, enough of my waffling, If anyone can give me any feedback I would really appreciate it!

Grahame
