All seems a little bit daft really, but hey ho.

On a side note, the new clubs arrived today - not overly impressed, they have a few wee imperfections on the heads - nothing major, but enough to put me off them, so they're going to be returned and I think I'll go for the Speed Pro 2's instead.

Well, Speed Pro's wrapped up to return in the morning :( ... however Speed Pro 2's sorted to collect in the afternoon :)

Little bit more than I was looking to spend ideally, but they are great looking clubs and will hopefully last me quite a while. I just couldn't keep the Speed Pro's knowing that the (albeit minor) flaws were there.

What are your goals for the coming season, if any? I don't have a handicap, but I would like to get as close to 90 as possible and consistently. At the moment I hover around 100 over 18 holes.

I'd like to be regularly hitting mid 80's, which I know I am more than capable of - I just need some consistency, so I plan to practise as much as possible.

I've not rejoined my previous club this year, as I felt it was time for a change, although I've not yet decided where I want to go nexr, so just playing wherever as a visitor for now.

Well, went to collect the new clubs today and they tried to pass off a display set as new! Erm, I don't think so, not happy, so brand new set requested and ordered and will be thoroughly inspected before I leave the store.

What is it with some stores assuming it's fine to sell display stock as new? :(

Went out again and my demon slice returned and the distance I was hitting the ball lessened, haven't been plagued with the slice for a good few rounds...
My putting average was over 2.33, but I did lower my best round by one shot, so...

Have you been fitted for the MD clubs Diggsy?

No, afraid not. Just going with the stock off the shelf option, which is standard length and lie with UST Stepless Steel regular shafts.

Not sure if custom fitting is an option on these clubs and tbh I never bothered to ask. I'm sure they'll do me just fine though as I hit my current MD irons pretty well and they're similar shafts.

I reckon I'll keep these for a couple of years then maybe invest in a really high end set and get fitted at that stage. I don't really think my game is good enough to benefit much from custom fitting at the moment if I'm honest. I just fancied a new set of clubs without spending the earth. These seemed to tick all the boxes :)

all hyped up to play today, really looking forward to a round with tee booked at 8.36 and ive woken up with the worst bad back ive had in ages.

Felt really confident yesterday, been striking really well and hitting decent length with only my hybrid causing me a bit of a headache but this back is going to be a real niggle, fingers crossed it doesn't hamper too much! Who else is playing today?

yeah, 9.01 for me. Back on Belleisle today which but front tees. Qualifier for stutt cup knockout - top 16 to qualify.

Nice day but my back is a bit stiff after 8 hours in the car yesterday!!!

You know i said one of my goals for this year was to break 80 ?
Well i've gone and done it today !!

79 round Taunton Vale, with a 7 and 3 putted the last, windy too.

Really tempted to buy a Skycaddie for this season :)

Whats the coverage like for them though. I worry about going somewhere and not getting a GPS signal or something, at least with my iPhone I know I will have 3's network coverage.

And im wondering if the new SGXw is really worth £60 more than the standard SGX.

Never had a single problem with skycaddie gps. Played loads of places as well with it. Never had a single problem. picks up signal in about 20 seconds.

Also I would seriously consider the SG5 which you can still get on ebay and places. No way the sgx is worth £200 more. SG5 can be had for about £150.

Played today and had a great round of 86 which included 5 pars and a birdie. Bar 2 not so good holes (5 on a par 3 and 7 on a par 4!) it was a really good round, missed one fairway all day which I was well pleased with.

Problem is I've now walked away wondering if getting new irons is wise after all
