If you want the r11 irons but at a cheaper price get the taylormade CB irons, same cavity, i find them actually a nicer iron, and as they have been just discontinued they should be a cheaper price (they had a better/wider shaft choice also if i recall correctly).

Got an r11 driver myself, been getting on with it ok, but really think i should have gone down the 9.0 degree route instead of the 10.5 as my drives do launch into orbit! :)

Have developed a major case of the shanks over the last week or two and it's been a complete nightmare!! :(

Think I am on the road to recovery though, thanks to several videos from this guy on Youtube... http://www.youtube.com/user/PeakPerformanceGolf

I am pretty certain from his vids that I was not wrapping my right hand over far enough and as such it was causing me to push with it rather than allow the left to pull it through the ball.

I have still shanked a couple today but I think that was simply a case of not setting up properly.

Amazing what a small change can do to your game. Gotta say though I'd take any other fault in my game than the shanks - such a destructive little bugger :(

Couldn't agree more - one thing I've found with the shanks, is that it is normally mostly to do with how far you are standing away from the ball. Try this: setup to hit the ball, then drop the butt of the club down to your left knee. It should rest about 10cm above your knee cap - always a good indication that you are standing the right distance away from the ball.

My recent issue which has just crept into my game is the fade with the driver. I used to be a consistent drawer of the ball, but been reshaping my game over the last year for a straighter flight, or more of a cut (my golf course plays better with a cut shot). However the driver cut shot is developing into more of a minor slice, plus I need the yardage of a draw shot with a driver.

GRRRRR frustrating lol

Excellent! Thanks a lot for that tip, will try it next time I get the chance.

I feel your pain about the driving - so little change makes a huge difference with the driver and it can be a nightmare to repair when it goes wrong. I'd love a draw flight, but have always had either arrow straight or a slight fade - apart from the days of wild slices mind you :p:D

Hey guys, just wanted to post regarding golf lessons, i have only had two in my 15 years playing golf and never really rated them...... I have been balloning the ball up in the air way too much and loosing a lot of distance as a result.
A friend recommended a decent pro and after one shot he said "i know what you are doing wrong"..
He said i had a weak grip! Which in golf terms means that my left hand is not turned around enough on the grip. He said you should be able to see two knuckles after you grip with your left hand. I couldn't see any and was a fair bit off seeing any...

Also the club addressing the ball was wrong, i had it almost flush so everything was inline and the club was pointing at the middle of my belt. He re-arranged it so the club is now pointing forward towards my left thigh.

It felt weird to start with, but i am hitting all clubs a good 20 yards further and actually striking down on the ball as opposed to sweeping it and contacting the ground before the ball most of the time....

Best £17 i ever spend golf wise! I'd highly recommend it for anyone struggling with something.

Yes, still there, been up tonight and played 1,2,3,15,16,17 and 18 on my own, hit the ball reasonably well, although a couple of shanks crept in on 17 :/

Are you entering the Club champs mate ?

Sounds like the usual layout of holes when you play evening golf on your own, been there.

Yeah I think I will be mid July isn't it? Are you taking part in Captain's Day? I have a 7.46 tee off as I have a wedding to attend to later in the day :/.

EDIT: Also just received a call off the First Team Captain, kinda wanted to get my game in a little better shape before I took that call.

Nice one!!

Good shot was it - so many hole in ones come from poor shots etc. Did you see if go in?

First one ?

Was a good shot yes, 8 iron which pitched 6/7 yards to the right of the pin, rolled up to the top of the middle tier came back down and dropped in, I saw it yes, awesome.
Was his first one yes. Never got the beers in tho !!! I did.

nice work. My only one came at the 1st hole on a course! All down hill from there!:p:p

Anyway another 18 holes of inconsistency today.

Out in 46, back in 37 with a birdie birdie finish:rolleyes:

Me too, out in 41 and back in 46 (two 7's and a 6), must have had 5 shanks, they are killing my game atm, driving was **** too.
Off to the range to try and sort something out - Club champs in 2 weeks !!

Don't even go there with the damn shanks!! Mine were so bad last week that I abandoned my round after 12 holes - 1st time ever :(

Must've shanked 6 times in 9 iron shots, they are a total nightmare and so destructive - hateful :(

Anyone have any experience of the following woods - am looking at changing the cheap ones I have now I am playing a little bit more

Taylormade RocketBallz / Cobra Amp / Adams Speedline Fast 12

Hit each of these at the weekend and am drawn to the Taylormade initially although they only had a high launch 3 wood so I am going back when they get a regular one in

Don't have an official handicap but have played a few rounds recently and shot mid 80's although used to play off about 12 when I was younger so fairly pleased I can still hit the ball after such a long lay-off :D

Hi troops!

Managed to get some of the afternoon off so went down and just did the first 9 holes of a local course.

I managed 49 shots. TBH I'm actually quite happy with this as I did the full 18 a week or so ago and managed 106.

Yes i'm still a newb (even though I started this thread years ago :P.....not played for a while)

I got a friend to film my swing - ITS HORRIBLE. I seem all 'bunched up as if my shoulders just don't turn :(

I'm thinking of having a few more lessons. The last time I had lessons all it did was completely mess me up and made me stop enjoying golf. I've now moved so it would be at a different course and different pro. Do you think it's worth it?

It's got to the stage where I don't use a driver - AT ALL. I tee off with a 5 hybrid, it used to at least go straightish about 180yds but now it can go anywhere.
