went out this morning around 530 to get a handful of holes in before work, my short game practicing is really paying off as i am making decent contact with the shots and putting is no more than 2 putts. I used to thin a lot of shots or chunk them so happy, plus the clubs make a lovely little clicking noise when hit out of the middle :) within 100 yards i'm accurate with the wedges, maybe not so much as the lower handicappers will be but i'm hitting the green which is enough for me.

Off the tee is my big problem for loosing shots, general iron play once i've tee'd off is i'd say 90% ok, 5% lovely and 5% thinned so need to figure that out a little but i am starting to see the rounds and practice bringing scores generally down.

Playing the open at my club on saturday as found someone who will play it with me, he's not played in a comp and never played stableford so a 4BBB is a decent way to start, we are both playing of 19 so that'll help too.

bit of a mixed bag in the last week. Nett -2 in the comp, didn't win but 16 decent holes, 1 bad hole and 1 meh hole - going 7, 6 at 16 and 17 meant a 3rd place finish instead of 1st place. 2nd time this year that's cost me a win, a blow up out of nowhere.

Lost our doubles matchplay 2 & 1 - I was playing to my handicap but one of the opponents was about -5 his handicap, he played so consistent. Was a good game. They made back to back monster putt birdies to go from 1 down to 1 up. My putting was mince but the rest of my game was ok.

Had the 1/4 final of the singles matchplay a few days later and won that 6 and 4, again played pretty much to or slightly under my handicap. Have a few weeks to get the semi final played and it's against someone I've never played a round with. Here's hoping I can keep my steady form going.

Club champs this weekend. Course is cooked. Dead everywhere, lots of trees have sucked it dry.. Greens are great as they are watered daily but consistency is impossible when you hit a decent drive and it rolls 50 yards into the trees of takes a huge bounce sideways.

Not really holding out much hope. I'm playing well atm but I know that the course will decide who wins or loses.
