Looking forward to it, I've wanted a high end AMOLED nexus for ages (loved the gnex) Damn those cheap nexus 4's and 5's with their cutbacks to meet a low price, they were horrendous in areas

This is a good bit wider than the 6+ isn't it? The height isn't really the problem with these phones, it's the width.

I can handle my 6+ okay, but it's not an effortless task, if it was any wider then it'd be even more difficult.

The bezels are a bit big but TouchID is amazing so I'll happily accept it.

I'd be struggling to pick between this and a Note 4 if I wanted an Android phone, the Note will probably shade it if you can live with TouchWiz.

Hmm, I thought it was always the height of these 'phablets' that Apple users had an issue with, with your thumb not being able to reach the top, or the top far corner.

The nexus looks much much better imo, yes its a big device but we've had big devices for years now and they've almost nailed it here imo in terms of the screen size to bezel ratio. The iP6+ has offensively large bezels, full stop. The same Apple users have been mocking phablets for years and they've now been forced to accept the worst 'large' phone on the market. Yes that's only my opinion but it's based on the screen size, bezel size and screen resolution. I've no idea what the battery life is like on the iP6+ but that's never been one of Apples selling points.

What on earth are you talking about?! Apple iphone 6 and 6 plus have "High resolution retina hd displays" :D

The 1334 ×750 of the iphone 6 is especially high definition lol

Just had a play with a Note 4 for half an hour in a Samsung store. Nice looking device but just wasn't for me. Holding for the Nexus 6 now.

I think it's a fantastic phone (largely because of iOS, but I'm not getting that on a Nexus 6 anytime soon). The bottom bezel, at least, is a necessary evil in order to get TouchID in there, and it is utterly brilliant, I couldn't have a phone without it now.

This is all mostly subjective, as you said, and I don't think you've read much about the iPhone 6 Plus really, from what you've said. On the battery - it's one of the best around (as are most of the specs really). It's also a bit daft to pigeonhole everyone into an Apple users category, too.

It's only 8mm taller and 3.5mm wider than my Note 2 (had for 2 years now), which i generally use one handed with no issues. So the size isn't an issue for me at all. But I was considering getting the Z3c this time around at £300. If this is around the £400 mark i may opt for this instead.

Bit of a strange pair of options, but i'm not signing up to a contract due to having a work contract, and can't justify throwing more than that at a phone. Having the bigger screen is a bonus 90% on the time, so could probably justify the extra £100 or so, It would however mean i'd probably change my usage a little and end up using my 10inch Asus T100 a little more around the house.

Maybe it's just me but with Google voice search and voice activation being plugged by Google in radio and tv ads every which way lately ("OK Google, ........"), I find the fixation with one hand vs two hands to be odd. Perhaps on one out of every 20 messages I might be inclined to type with a keyboard.

Two years ago I found that Google Voice figured out about 15-20 out of every 25 words I would dictate to Google. Today it is rare that they miss any of my words!

Guys, don't you find Google Voice to be useful to you too? Is my reliance on Google Voice solely related to the fact that I am also a Glass wearer (I love Glass!) and everything starts with the verbal command, "OK Glass.....make a call to....take a picture....record a video.....recognise this.....etc"? But even if I did not own Google Glass, I would be so likely to use voice commands and dictation most of the time I am sure.

Some have said to me.....but I do not want people around me to hear what I am saying in a text or Hangout or WhatsApp, etc. But I find everywhere that smartphone users are speaking loudly into their phones with their head bent over like they are suffering some kind of seizure!

You will never catch me talking to my phone or my console even if i am alone. Not only would i feel like a complete melon (and look/sound like one to anyone in the vicinity) but i find it quicker to navigate through physical medium.

I really dont understand why they all keep pushing for voice activated stuff, short of using it hands free in a car i really cant imagine why anyone would talk to their phone lol.

Hmm, the wideness is a bit of a concern for me too, but the only situation I can think where I stretch my thumb all the way across is when using the keyboard. However, swiftkey has a feature which will move the keyboard to one side, so that's fine

Are there any other situations that I'm missing?

Did they actually confirm a UK launch today? The nexus 9 is on the store so I assume no Nexus 6 today...

On the launch blog the just said "Nexus 9 and Nexus Player will be available for pre-order on October 17. Nexus 9 will be in stores starting November 3. Nexus 6 will be available for pre-order in late October and in stores in November

I don't have anything against the iP6+, I've been a huge fan of the larger screened devices ever since the first Note, I'm glad Apple have finally got there. What I find slightly amusing though is the worst thing about the 'phablets' generally is the bezel size to screen ratio. We're slowly getting there and I think the Nexus 6 has done very well on that front, but it's probably one of the worst things about the 6+ at a first glance.

I haven't read up much on the 6+ you're right, but I don't need to. iOS is fluid and smooth as ever, it does the job, I know because I use it, but itunes is still itunes etc etc software wise, it'll always be personal preference. But when looking for a large screened device today, in 2014, one of the most important things is big screen + small bezels. In 2011/12, those bezels would have been perfectly acceptable, in 2014 the 6+ is far behind the competition imo and that's without me even needing to use the 6+ because as a phablet, it's failed badly in the areas that matter the most (to me).
