** GORGEOUS NEW LG 4K MONITOR - LG 27GN950-B PRE-ORDER NOW **

I've been trying the sound coming from the 3.5 jack of the display to my desktop speakers. And it really sounds bad. With my PG279Q there wasn't even a difference from plugging it directly to MB, but Jesus do I notice the sound quality now. The bass get distorted really bad and max volume is seriously reduced. Everything sounds very flat. I'm not talking like an audophile -it's really this noticeable.

I understand this issue is not very important in a monitor, but I plan to plug my PS4 from time to time and jack is the only way to go.

I haven't seen this commented in any reviews, which amazes me because I can't be the only one who plans to play with a console eventually.

You can run at 10-bit at 144hz, or even 160Hz via the overclock if you want, as long as your graphics card supports DSC. and that will kick in automatically when you switch to the higher refresh. It’s visually lossless so I don’t think you’d see any visual difference at 95Hz or higher tbh

Cool - sounds perfect for me in that case. Vesa is really vague about just how lossless "virtually lossless" is.

I have disabled every single option in LG control software but I'm afraid it still does it. Does it only annoy me?

Also, every time the display sleeps, the Windows USB plug-in chord sounds. I have the USB monitor cable plugged but i find it weird.

Sorry I don't know how to disable it either :(

We have another couple of pallets coming on Monday. This stock means hopefully we can fulfill orders taken up to 11th November.

Still leaves us with 80 orders to fulfill. I'm trying to get further information on when the next stock intake will be but the message I'm getting is that it's chaos at the ports, and then knock on effects at distribution.

Please take any ETA's with a grain of salt. Including the one above!

Please don't webnote or email asking for queue place, or ETA, etc as the situation is fluid and the guys in sales have enough to deal with at the moment.

I'll keep posting info here as and when i get it.

Thanks for your patience!
Hi Nik

Appreciate its the holidays and you have better stuff to be doing, but when you're back at work and have a moment, could you give an update on deliveries and pre orders?

I finally got round to ordering one of these this morning and wondered what the current situation is.

Thanks very much

After testing the monitor for a week, I’ve decided to return it. The problem could be related to how much I like my former one (Asus PG279Q), but I don’t really see a difference worth the 900€. In fact, there are several areas where the LG is clearly worse than the Asus (sound, OSD, display response time when Alt+Tab or waking up...). In top of that, you are paying extra for two features you might not even use: HDR, which is pointless in this display, and RGB.

I’ll wait for more 4K/144 options.

So I’ve had 3 of these monitors now - the first one was replaced as it developed 3 bright areas in the bottom right corner. It wasn’t light bleed or glow - it almost looked like the edge leds strips became visible. My current one seems to have the same - about 1cm bright from the edge bottom right corner, a normal brightness gap and then another 1cm bright area. Is this normal I.e are others seeing this? You can see it more on Eizo monitor test - brighter colours show it more. Or am I just unlucky - and either have to live with it or return and go with ‘another’ replacement or a different brand altogether....

I dunno if you remember we talked on Reddit a few months ago. I got my new monitor about a week ago, and if I look very close I can still see what we talked about. But this one is currently much better than the first one I got. On the new one I have to really look for it. I am starting to wonder if they just are like this, we might be too picky and notice it? If I play a game, video, look at pictures etc I cannot see it. It’s only easy to see in bright colors as u mentioned.

Hey, yeah that’s what I thought - but - it got worse and bigger each day - started off only being able to see 1 then 2 and eventually 3 lines like the first time. You couldn't see it at all for the first few days in Doom and Cyberpunk then it was clearly visible. I’ve returned it and gone for a Dell AW3821DW.

RTX 2070 super running flat out to feed this lovely monitor 4K @ 160Hz in fall guys :-). I think I need a better GPU for cyberpunk 4K. Might wait for a 3080ti and not be able to buy one of those either

I also myself experience weird response time when alt-tabing from a game to Windows (when it was instant previously), never thought it could come from my LG 27GN950

It’s from the LG, no doubt about it. If HDR is enabled, the time delays even more, which is somehow understandable, but I don’t find a right explanation about how much you have to wait when using SDR. And turning on the monitor is plain nightmare, about 5 seconds of waiting.

The devil is in the detail.

@NikTheSHNIK - hi Nick, don't suppose there's any update on this?
