Gothic 3

Has anyone else who's got it this morning noticed that on the back of the box at the bottom it has a "PhysX by Ageia" logo?

I was unaware that it supported PhysX? Anyone know what extra features it provides (if any)?

I couldn't see it mentioned on Ageia's website either

Or was I the only one who didn't know this :p

Thanks,

Scott C

My mini review:

Up until yesterday I've never played a Gothic game before. I bought Gothic 2 yesterday after ordering Gothic 3 and proceeded to play an awesome game. I'm still kicking myself that I missed this one for all these years, but there you go.

Anyway. Onto Gothic 3. Installation went smoothly (about 3.7 gig) and game loaded up with no issues. You start your journey by fighting orcs in some sort of refugee camp. Framerates were very stable and the game looks gorgeous, even on my fast aging system (3Ghz, x850xt pe, 1.5gig ram). The framerates started to PICK UP in the forest areas and forest fights. I'm playing at 1024x768 and details very close to high. I did jack up the display but couldn't see a difference and FPS started to suffer. Been playing for 3 hours now and have yet to encounter a bug. The story is VERY easy to follow and eases you into the history of Myrtana and happenings that helped shape the realms what it is today. The controls took me some time getting use to but from there it's plain sailing. I also love the inventory system. a big improvement over Gothic 2

I won't say anymore about the game since you guys have to experience it for yourselves. Just know that those "reviews" are wrong.

And yes, it looks much better than Oblivion :p

9/10

Don't suppose any of you guys have an old GF4 to test this on?

I'm at my GF's tonight and she's using my top end PC from 4+ years ago.

Gf4ti4200, XP2100@2 ghz, 512/1024 MB ram...

Just wondering if I get the game today if I could play it reasonably well there. I reckon I might be able to ;)

You should be able to but it won't do just the beauty of this game.
Yes, I'm a graphics whore.

the game seems alright i prefer oblivion but then again ive only played for about over an hour and im off to work in a bit.
The graphics is a bit poo its nothing like the screenshots on the back of the case and theres the occasional bad texture like a red stone or tree but it flickers for a couple of seconds and back to normal :p
The game seems quite fun and the fighting you do have to think about every swing cause if you dont the enemy will do a nasty combo and kill you.
well i got 10 days off after today so ill get a good go on it and then give a mini review :)

graphics 6/10
sound 6/10
gameplay 7/10

It happens automatically when starting the game. Looks like the game polls the Piranah servers and just updates automatically if there's anything new.

I see, well I don't have the game yet, so I wouldn't know about that. They did say they would release a patch when the game is released though. :)

Good to hear some good things performance and bug wise as I was starting to get worried based upon what info was coming out of other forums.

Yeah, everyone is crying over at the Rage3D forums. Haven't checked my other hangouts since I'm to busy tweaking and fiddleing about with the settings.

Yeah, that's where I just came from.
