Government to consider banning smoking in pub gardens etc..

Legally you can vape wherever you like, if the owner of the property doesn't want you vaping in there that's another matter.
Yeah I was surprised at this when I found out. I went to the pub watching football a few weeks back and everyone was vaping in there. We went to a nicer place later on and my mate was vaping and stood outside so he could smoke it for a bit before going in, and the bouncer said "No problem you can smoke that in here my mate". Jesus it was tempting to go buy a vape (haven't smoked for 4 years).

I don't think the conservatives are in much position to complain about this - they were considering a phased-in outright ban on selling them by gradually raising the age limit.

Starmer said he wouldn't be populist - Lets have an interview with Tsar Chris Whittey to see whether he genuinely thing this is the best bang for the taxpayer buck, versus HFSS(obesity) legislation,
has he realised yet he is being played like he was during covid times.

to Whit. Wegovy is the successor to smoking, profits going abroad/Denmark, and people have to remain on it for life, with the stacking evidence of weight regain when they quit it.

I might be wrong, but I'm sure that smoking contributes more in taxation than treating smoking related illness costs. They're gonna have to plug that hole somehow...

Indeed NHS cost is estimated at £2.5Bn and revenue is £8.8Bn

Tobacco tax doesn't directly fund the NHS though. They go into general taxation.

I'm more than happy for smokers to pay more tax if it saves me some however ;)

Im in 2 minds on this, banning smoking indoors was a welcome change even as a smoker at the time, but this comes across a bit to draconian, pubs are able to set there own rules if they see fit at the end of the day.
As someone put so eloquently on reddit, "its a pub not a health spa"

However some smokers are inconsiderate arse's, i was stuck in a queue at Thorpe park where people seemed to have no issue with sparking up, thats far more annoying than the waft of second hand smoke within an open beer garden.

None smoker here (although if I've had a few I'll definitely bum a smoke from you). I just think it's an unnecessary extension of government power, same with the age limit increasing per year, just more government control, smoking is already on the decrease (which is a good thing) why turn the screw even harder? Just more control over people's lives.

And who is such a wet blanket that they actually give a crap if someone is smoking outside? It's courtesy to not smoke right next to someone, even outside, but if someone is smoking at a nearby table I do not give a flying ****. Just grow a sack honestly..

Its not great but it is at least an improvement on smoking, everyone I know who went from smoking to vaping has had a notable increase in how healthy they feel. So whilst vaping is almost certainly not good for you it's certainly a lesser evil than smoking imo.

This isn't true. I know someone who went from smoking to vaping and his COPD got far worse since he started vaping

Most places are not big enough for a smoking / non smoking section outside. Little annoying if the wind is blowing towards you and someone is smoking. Bigger things to worry about though. Pub trade already on its knees.

Hopefully this stops people smoking inside the entrance or right at the door of the pub so you have to walk through this cloud of smoke to get into the place.

I’m all for it, it shouldn’t even be required at this stage of the game as people really shouldn’t be smoking these days.

Make me chuckle..

So the poorly managed and overworked NHS are going to work places to stop people actually working to tell the staff they’re fat.
Kier Stalin is either a top (two) tier troll or he’s drunk on power.

Sounds a bit like what they do in Japan which actually works quite well and puts some responsibility on the employer to look out for their employees health and well-being.

Something that shocked me is how that can go wrong after the working day finishes and one those outside of Japan hardly know about.

Nothing worse than some tit walking in front of you or past you smoking a cigarette. This should actually be banned instead of worrying about pub gardens.

Same with vapers, who seem to think it is fine to drop a cherry and mango smokescreen behind them, which I see as no different than unstable Dan that cannot stop splashing everyone else at the urinal.
