Gran Turismo 7

Couple of top 3’s this morning pushed me up into B rank. Now those times will be more of a challenge this week assuming I can stay there. Hopefully etiquette will improve though I doubt it. Getting a clean race on Monza feels like a win in itself!

I have seen some positive and negative opinions from users about the game and undecided to buy. Having played all of the GT and Forza games past and present, GT7 is yet to grace my library.

I'm a fan of customizing, tuning and time trails and rarely dip out of the top 10 and wondered does GT7 feature similar capabilities to that say of Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport 7? Also... what'd the single player like?

I've played all the Forza games, but hadn't played Gran Turismo since GT2 on the PS1, i picked up a PS5 for GT7 (maybe other exclusives at some point).

Single player (Cafe Menu) is very short, every race is just an overtake challenge as there aren't any grid starts which is very disappointing. The Licenses, Missions & Circuit Experiences (around 47 million credits available here) are enjoyable, some are a challenge, but there really isn't any point going back to them once you have gold on everything. There are time trials & 1x Sport Mode time trial (looks to change every 2 weeks, only start this week). There are only 4x well paid single player races worth doing to get credits if you need them.

Tuning is alright, similar to Forza, but you can't adjust tyre pressures which is odd so i guess there isn't a proper tyre model, but there is Ballast, Power Restrictors and ECU adjustments Forza doesn't have. If you like making liveries for cars, race suits & helmets, that's all there along with importing SVG's which is a massive step up from Forza.

Sport mode is all i play other than a bit of single player to earn credits (i've got 1st place in all races and gold on everything in the single player). There are only 3x Sport races each week, mostly BOP as they have been fixing tuning glitches for months. There are Cup races in in sport as well. I normally only play the GR.1/2/3/4 races/cups and am having a great time in Sport mode.

Thanks for the feedback. I mainly purchased a PS5 for exclusives and hopefully GT7. Are you able to tune cars and use them against other peoples times on a class based leader board similar to that found in FH5/FM7 or is it a set challenge?

I just had a quick look, time trials looks like just your own times by PP rating (PI in forza). Only online boards at the moment are License/Mission/Circuit Experience + Sport mode Timetrial + Daily races.

Folks... please could someone help me, I must be absolutely thick not being able to find where the replays are.

Im selecting "save replay" after races. I got to scapes but I cannot find any replays... where the hell are they?

I just moved up to A/S :D (time to join the new Cup races), i had quite a few races with mixed B/S + A/S + A/A players, after beating a few A players in each race i moved up.

Almost everyone at the Top of B & Bottom of A is driving the GR Supra (it goes 2mph faster than the F-Type & WRX), i stuck with my trusty F-Type though it has better brakes.

That's a shame as I enjoyed multi class time trials and the ability of testing tunes to reach the top 10. Perhaps one day PD will feature this? Might hold off until these new PSN Plus tiers release and GT7 might be included soon like game pass?

Just finished the cafe book for GT.1 cars - my god that Suzuka race was such a spiteful round! Must have tried about 20 times to complete it, but always found that even when I pitted at the right time and put wets on, the rain would go one of two ways - heavy making the tyres useless, or dry up quickly and kill my wear.

Managed a 3rd in the end, that'll do for me, don't think my 'cheap' (guess 1 mill for a gt.1 is cheap) Toyota was that competitive, but hey ho it's all done now thank ****

I tried that race a few times and kept getting the heavy rain version, when I used the Group C Jag I won the other 2 races with and finishing 6th (1 stop).

I ended up winning it with the Toyota F1 car on a 0 stop race that had light rain showers (Max downforce, RH tyres, FM6).

The Mazda LM55 VGT (make sure it’s the gr1 version) makes easy work of the gr1 cafe book. I used Racing Hards, big turbo upgrade and restrictor to bring it back down to 950. You have to use fuel saving 3-4 to make the races a 1 stop but even with fuel saving you’re still waaay faster than the AI.

Well that didn’t last long. My fastest time still puts me in the bottom 3 so after 3 races I am dumped back down into C. Oh well I know my limitations lol

I notice a lot in B rank there are comments prior to the race starting apologising for using a dual sense controller, I assume B, unless you are massively talented, is difficult to improve on unless you have a wheel?

Keep at it, you'll probably move back up, if i start near the back, (very common until i put in faster qualifying times) i just try to keep out of everyone's way and at least finish in the same position i start in, if i've not working my way through by catching people or from their accidents. It keeps the Sportsman Rating up that way too.

On Monza last week my 1:48.1 was good for 2nd-9th starts, depending on how many quick B/S people were in the race, some were 0.5-1.0 seconds faster than me. It was mostly very clean racing, with no divebombing or passing at stupid places on the track, so it was great fun.

JayBayRacing on youtube does good track guides for the daily races, might be worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/c/JayBayRacing

Thanks I’ll give that a watch. I stumbled upon this guy last week he’s pretty good in the high 1:47’s on Monza. Really helpful video by Kireth Kart https://youtu.be/rgUMbT7IZes

Edit looks like it’s actually the same guy we both posted but different channels.

I don’t mind it’s pretty casual for me I am just enjoying the racing no matter where I am. My SR dropped this week so I am going to just try and keep my nose clean and get back up to S. Seems like it filters out most of the rammers if you can keep it high.
